ohh man, I was just introduced to gnocchi last month - is that always made with a vodka cream sauce? because that stuff is freaking amazing. potatoes in general are amazing.

bangers and mash are surprisingly tasty (and cheap) given their name and appearance. sadly, I can't eat it anymore, but the memory remains.

a really good dish is diced red potatoes cooked in olive oil (or whatever you prefer) with a little parsley, oregano, salt & pepper, and garlic. They're a simple dish, but very good for a purely potato dish that isn't simply mashed.

sorry for the double post, merge please if you can

Dont be swayed by these "figureheads" we elect, the true power in is the money.

many people over use olive oil i find

i personally use the cheap oil as it usually does the same job and requires a lower temperature to cook.. the only thing i really enjoy using olive oil on is past or maybe a salad dressing

fair enough - i try to keep my olive oil consumption a little more than I'd normally like, only because I need more of those "good" fats in my diet. But yeah, I def have a bottle of vegetable oil I break out for normal occasions, and olive oil for those "nice" dinners.

I hate really oily food though.

Also good: lightly oiled whole wheat pasta with garlic, though don't expect to get any that night.

This Country was built on Capitalism. Not socialism. Obama is going to change all this. France has the same plans that he wants to put in. whats there unemployment now... 24%.
He going to limit the freedom of the press by putting in the fairness act. And he can do it now because his party runs the senate and the house. And as soon as a supreme court judge is out he will put in his own.

this reminds me of Country Time Lemonade. You guys like that stuff? It always was a little too sweet for me, but the pink lemonade was always good.

Gnocchi with pesto sauce is absolutely for the win.

I went to this Maggiano's place recently (some decent Italian chain) for a business dinner and we got the family style dinner, which (among other things) lets you pick 4 entrees to be brought continuously to the table (infinite). one of them was gnocchi. Being vegetarian, this was one of the few items we had that was meatless, but damn was it more than enough. I think I killed at least 2 plates.

Delicious.

Do you (or anyone else) know of some dish similar to gnocchi?

On a somewhat related note, pierogies = awesome. Be they cheese, potato, or kraut.
