Compton said:so is that the sort of freedom you fight for?
kinda like how all the people that questioned socialist reform in russia was shot.
hmm interesting, are you sure you were raised in a place where people could speak their mind? sounds kind of like dictatorship to me....
oh, and ROADSHOW,
with such a small amount of international news that makes it into this country, how in the fuck do you think you are well enough informed to make governmental descisions about countries that have little next to no impact on ANY AMERICANS UNLESS YOU HAVE INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENTS. since when was it patriotic to buy Arabic, as opposed to USA?
the military's current job is to watch oil investments that we all paid for, so that top 2% can make the profit from it.
while you watch iraq and scream american patriotism, this country is stumbling into a financial collapse because of all the wasted money.
maybe if we invested this kind of cash in to public school systems, instead of letting the poorer schools shut down, we would have a few less soldeirs and a few more philosophers, that could find peaceful solutions.
i know you people have been desensitized to the lifes you destroy, but they are real people with real homes, with children they love, and ties to their communities.
do you really think a sending a hummer in and telling everyone that they need to leave makes it ok?
what if you were sitting at home and a jeep goes by throwing out big macs, telling you that you need to abandon the only home you have ever had because china was invading your town.
would you leave?
if you did, how would you feel if they said it was okay because they feed a few homeless guys near your house that hadn't eaten in a few days?
if you didn't leave, and was killed by the scrapnal of you local TV station( a stratigic move the US like to use that kills innocents, not military,) would you be to blame?
would they be justified in their attack if they THOUGHT the US had intentions of assist their enimies financially? (the key word there is THOUGHT!)
oh and if the marines are so great why does the guy who started this thread have to lie about his gaming past to recruit members? (much like the real armed forces, they will say anything to get you to sign.)
" wan't to get paid to play guitar? or be a pro athelet? maybe you want pet small kittens for a living, well the marine corp has a place for you! join the few, the proud, the marines!'
Just got back from PT... not in the mood for more of your senseless bullshit. But... I skimmed your response and ill throw some comments out there.
As you spoke your mind, clearly saying "Fuck you" to me, the members have also spoken their minds. You think i'm wrong, and we think your wrong. Notice the use of freedom? In those countries where freedom isnt an aspect of everyday life, you would be killed for your comments against the government. Were you? Nope. Will you be? Nope. Some think you should be, but you wont be. To tell you the truth, you're actually protected from those that want to hurt you by the government you seem to hate. Sounds like freedom to me.
Little to no impact on any Americans? Although none of my family members were killed during the September 11th attacks, I still feel that it had a large impact on America, as a whole. Would I ever want another attack to happen to America? No. That is, once again, why I joined the armed forces. That, to me, is a situation that you cannot take lightly. In my opinion, you cannot sit back and hope another attack doesnt happen... you need to do everything in your power to make sure nothing else happens. I seem to see an impact.
The militaries job is to follow orders. In boot camp, you are trained "obedience". The beginning of our boot camp definition is "Instant obedience to orders...". That is what we do. Refusing to follow orders cannot only ruin a Marines future... but it gets Marines killed. The job of our government is to protect this country. Right now... we are attempting to prevent further attacks against us. Imagine if we had no military. Because it is, after all, a waste of money to you. I think you'd be suprise at how different this country is. Because... it exists because of our military. Look in the past.
I find it interesting that you can point fingers at our government, claiming that they're goal is to allow the "top 2% to make a profit", when you havent suggested that our sports teams should take a cut to support this country. Lets evaluate the options... provide a military for our country, or allow the citizens to be entertained. Good point. Dont get me wrong... I love sports. But... it isnt about what we love... it is first about what we need.
Words cannot cease a hate that is taught in the schools of the countries that feel we should not exist. This is their belief... their mindset. No American philosopher could change that.
I love your "do you really think a sending a hummer in and telling everyone that they need to leave makes it ok?" comment. I also seem to find it quite hypocritical to your previous "shooting rockets at small villages" statement. Either we warn the citizens of the upcoming event and allow them to survive, and are seen as being unfair... or... we go straight through, showing them the same mercy they show us, and are seen as murderers. Either way, we will never make sense to the minds of the ignorant. But... we will still allow our people to have minds to use. We have a job to do. And, that job, is to protect this country.
The Marine who started this thread may have exaggerated... but I cannot prove either side. What I will say is that it's citizens like him who are willing to die for citizens like you. And, yes... many recruits are lied to before recruit training (boot camp). They are told that boot camp goes by quick, and that it really isnt that bad. But... they never once told me that I wouldnt go overseas. They never once told me that there was no risk. We join, knowing the risks... and still join.
