so is that the sort of freedom you fight for?
kinda like how all the people that questioned socialist reform in russia was shot.

hmm interesting, are you sure you were raised in a place where people could speak their mind? sounds kind of like dictatorship to me....
oh, and ROADSHOW,
with such a small amount of international news that makes it into this country, how in the fuck do you think you are well enough informed to make governmental descisions about countries that have little next to no impact on ANY AMERICANS UNLESS YOU HAVE INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENTS. since when was it patriotic to buy Arabic, as opposed to USA?

the military's current job is to watch oil investments that we all paid for, so that top 2% can make the profit from it.

while you watch iraq and scream american patriotism, this country is stumbling into a financial collapse because of all the wasted money.

maybe if we invested this kind of cash in to public school systems, instead of letting the poorer schools shut down, we would have a few less soldeirs and a few more philosophers, that could find peaceful solutions.

i know you people have been desensitized to the lifes you destroy, but they are real people with real homes, with children they love, and ties to their communities.

do you really think a sending a hummer in and telling everyone that they need to leave makes it ok?
what if you were sitting at home and a jeep goes by throwing out big macs, telling you that you need to abandon the only home you have ever had because china was invading your town.

would you leave?
if you did, how would you feel if they said it was okay because they feed a few homeless guys near your house that hadn't eaten in a few days?

if you didn't leave, and was killed by the scrapnal of you local TV station( a stratigic move the US like to use that kills innocents, not military,) would you be to blame?

would they be justified in their attack if they THOUGHT the US had intentions of assist their enimies financially? (the key word there is THOUGHT!)

oh and if the marines are so great why does the guy who started this thread have to lie about his gaming past to recruit members? (much like the real armed forces, they will say anything to get you to sign.)

" wan't to get paid to play guitar? or be a pro athelet? maybe you want pet small kittens for a living, well the marine corp has a place for you! join the few, the proud, the marines!'

Just got back from PT... not in the mood for more of your senseless bullshit. But... I skimmed your response and ill throw some comments out there.

As you spoke your mind, clearly saying "Fuck you" to me, the members have also spoken their minds. You think i'm wrong, and we think your wrong. Notice the use of freedom? In those countries where freedom isnt an aspect of everyday life, you would be killed for your comments against the government. Were you? Nope. Will you be? Nope. Some think you should be, but you wont be. To tell you the truth, you're actually protected from those that want to hurt you by the government you seem to hate. Sounds like freedom to me.

Little to no impact on any Americans? Although none of my family members were killed during the September 11th attacks, I still feel that it had a large impact on America, as a whole. Would I ever want another attack to happen to America? No. That is, once again, why I joined the armed forces. That, to me, is a situation that you cannot take lightly. In my opinion, you cannot sit back and hope another attack doesnt happen... you need to do everything in your power to make sure nothing else happens. I seem to see an impact.

The militaries job is to follow orders. In boot camp, you are trained "obedience". The beginning of our boot camp definition is "Instant obedience to orders...". That is what we do. Refusing to follow orders cannot only ruin a Marines future... but it gets Marines killed. The job of our government is to protect this country. Right now... we are attempting to prevent further attacks against us. Imagine if we had no military. Because it is, after all, a waste of money to you. I think you'd be suprise at how different this country is. Because... it exists because of our military. Look in the past.

I find it interesting that you can point fingers at our government, claiming that they're goal is to allow the "top 2% to make a profit", when you havent suggested that our sports teams should take a cut to support this country. Lets evaluate the options... provide a military for our country, or allow the citizens to be entertained. Good point. Dont get me wrong... I love sports. But... it isnt about what we love... it is first about what we need.

Words cannot cease a hate that is taught in the schools of the countries that feel we should not exist. This is their belief... their mindset. No American philosopher could change that.

I love your "do you really think a sending a hummer in and telling everyone that they need to leave makes it ok?" comment. I also seem to find it quite hypocritical to your previous "shooting rockets at small villages" statement. Either we warn the citizens of the upcoming event and allow them to survive, and are seen as being unfair... or... we go straight through, showing them the same mercy they show us, and are seen as murderers. Either way, we will never make sense to the minds of the ignorant. But... we will still allow our people to have minds to use. We have a job to do. And, that job, is to protect this country.

The Marine who started this thread may have exaggerated... but I cannot prove either side. What I will say is that it's citizens like him who are willing to die for citizens like you. And, yes... many recruits are lied to before recruit training (boot camp). They are told that boot camp goes by quick, and that it really isnt that bad. But... they never once told me that I wouldnt go overseas. They never once told me that there was no risk. We join, knowing the risks... and still join.

ok i am done:)
i see you have agreed with some of my points and i am happy for that.

i never really intended to blow up like that and i didn't mean to say "fuck you" as a direct comment.

i agree completly about the over valued sports icon, and it is shamful that the NBA is recruiting out of highschool, with no chance for these kids to ever think they need a higher education.
i think it is utter disregard that the military is as under funded and and over needed due to current events. they overly need more troops but don't properly equipt them for the environment. once they are returned to the states and they retire, they can barly get medical with out driving across the state to find a vets hospital. and on top of that they get treated like victims for the rest of their life (more veitnam then any of the others.)
but the school system is still in decline and the federal budget is so far in the red it is going to be our great grand kids that will see it paid(if the country doesn't financially collapse!)

but everone is worked up about the NHL being canceled this year because the players want more money!!!!!!!!!!!!!

amazing......

Well spoken Roadshow. I still have freinds in Iraq. I agree with most of what you said about 3rd world mentality. As for the U.S., people that put the military down over a few GI's mistakes makes me sick. We may be soldiers but we are still human. Some soldiers make mistakes and you cant judge the entire armed forces on their behalf. You would be surprised, but the common soldier is trained to be efficient at what ever he needs to do. This means he is highly more capable than the average citizen without military training. I said average , so this isnt a challenge saying soldiers are better than you but they are better than most their age, not because of who they are but because of their training. So please think about what you say before saying it. Remember we are protecting you even if you are attacking us from behind. God Bless the Armed Forces.

Last night in my business law class i herd something that kind of explains the 18 year olds enlistment. Which is something i was not aware of when i enlisted. Anyway heres the thing, I guess back in the 60's right before vietnam. The age to enlist was like 20 or 21 or something. Anyway what happed was people started bitching about kids being able to vote and not being able to serve. So they lowered the age. Now how true this is I don't know. I live in Indiana so they may have been refering to the state I live in only. Or they could just be bullshiten.I realy don't know but I thought it sounded interesting. Anyway if thats the case then, why don't they lower drinking laws then to 18?Old enuff to die for country should be able to drink and die at the same time lol. But not like getten beer is hard anyway in the service but you know its the idea of it being legal lol.

Erm, you got that backwards. The US lowered the voting agre to 18 because peopel complained that if they were old enough to die for their country, they were old enough to vote.

I agree about the drinking age (which is 21 in the US because of college problems I beleive), but yea, 18 year olds have no problem getting a drink in the service from what I've heard.

Yes....well now you know how the aribic people and every other type of people who are judged by the US feel. I am part of the United States but still...we judge way to hastily...and it not just ONE or TWO people...before we start gettin pissed at people for judging us we need to stop judging other people because of a few people who are stuiped or make mastakes.

But... a few people who are stupid or make mistakes can be the cause of death for thousands of Americans. After one situation, I dont think we can just sit back and allow it to happen again.

The hate that those countries have for us is taught and instructed... children learn to hate us from a very young age.

no, you left your families for a paycheck and nothing else!
Don't try and assume you need to be treated like a fucking noble because of your job choice. being in the military doesn't earn you the right to respect.
i am sorry, it just doesn't!
maybe being a marine makes you feel special at night, but it doesn't mean your not an asshole for acting like you own this country.
if you don't like me airing my opinions, then go to socialist china, where respect for the military is mandatory.
but as far back as this country has run, we value open disscussion, without ostracization of others free thoughts.
you should save that gas money you offered to fund your trip to a country that reflects your thoughs on free opinion.

what i found not at all surprising, is how you totally floated over all the lies you said about your D2 guild and jumped into a conversation you thought you could win.

"you can build a thousand bridges, and suck one dick, but you'll always be remembered as a cocksucker and not a bridge builder...."

Heh... Compton.

There is an element of truth to what you said, but theres also 2 sides to each situation.

Im sorry comp I did not see you in boot worken your ass off for shitty pay.So tell whats the your life worth? I'm sorry i did not hear you.Cause i not only value my life. I value yours and everyones in our country enuff to put my ass on the line to protect you. Pay was never on my mind. In fact I have never asked for my GI Bill money or any tax deductions for servering or any benifits I could get. I servered cause I loved my country.Military pay sucks. If you think almost dieing and losing your wife is worth about 30 g's a year let me know. Cause thats about the most I ever made. After my enlistment ended I came home to two kids that barley knew me and a wife that barley knew me. I basicly had to start my life over again after my enlistment. An I was never the same since I servered. An for you to set there and say its about pay. Its a damn shame I almost died for you. An any service man marine or not will tell you its never about the pay. Its about protecting the innocent. So don't you ever say its about pay.

Others dont really understand that...

If you want pay, you join other branches. They actually give enlistment bonuses. 99% of the time, the Marine Corps wont. You need to want to be a Marine.
