Three Great Songs w/ Youtube Links
This is a collaboration of music posts for the shard that includes a YouTube link for each piece of music selected that you would like to share. This makes it easy for others to view the music that you like to listen to. The idea is to expand some musical horizons and to get an idea of what eachother's interests are. Included below is a set of links to music that has already been posted (through Page 31 Post #603) so that you can easily build a collection for yourself or get an idea of whether the songs you would like to share have already been linked. Also listed below is a couple additional links if you are interested in setting up a home audio collection on your computer. I hope you find something you like that you never heard before. If you do get a chance to somehow contribute to the artists that are available for listening in this manner, try to do so some day. The soundtrack to your life is priceless.

Jet Audio Basic: A great free product for organizing a collection of existing music on your computer, if you don't have something already available. If you desire to convert your own CDs into mp3s for portable devices, you will need another program or to purchase Jet Audio Plus VX.

Jet Audio Plus VX: You will need a program like this if you are trying to convert your own CD collection into mp3s. Many already converted mp3 files are available on the web from a variety of sources that Jet Audio Basic (The free program) can organize and download to your portable devices. I have not tried this product as I have used other programs in the past for this purpose, but judging by the quality of Jet Audio Basic, it is something I might look into if I needed to.

MP3ify.com: This is a site that offers convenient and high quality mp3 downloads for YouTube videos. They rely on donations to operate, so you currently have to make a $20 donation to have 1 year of unrestricted downloads. I have tried it, and believe it to be an excellent resource.

For reference: CD Quality music is generally sampled at 16-bit depth, 44.1 kHz sampling frequency, and is most frequently compressed to 128 kbps-11:1 when in mp3 form, although 160 kbps-9:1 is also common. The higher the bit rate (eg. 160 kbps), the lower the amount of compression when converting from an uncompressed digital audio file to an mp3. As you increase the bit rate, the better the quality of the final file at the cost of a larger mp3 file. Both 128 kbps, and 160 kbps should provide you with acceptable results if you are converting your own files, although you can use an even higher bit rate if desired.

Remember that it is an incredible gift and resource to have music available like this at our fingertips. I've been stuck in the 60's and 70's for too long with music. Post some of the songs that you like so much that you want others to hear them before they die. Try to only post a total of 3 per post with the Youtube links to make it easy, and wait at least a few days or until the next page comes up to post more. The idea is to expand some musical horizons and maybe get an idea of what some of us are into.
