List of Companies Which Support S.O.P.A - Internet Censorship Hall of Shame

Below is a list of the member companies of the Business Software Alliance (aka B.S.A), taken from their website. The B.S.A is one of the main forces pushing for the new S.O.P.A. law which would effectively establish a totalitarian internet censorship system in the U.S. Obviously this list is too long to make it possible to take action against all of them, but if we concentrate our efforts on making one of these companies very uncomfortable we could have an impact. I propose that we target Apple.
Adobe
Apple
Autodesk
AVEVA
AVG
Bentley Systems

really though, nothing they do will have an effect. No one seems to understand that literally, online petitions hold no water in court, due to their ability to be faked extremely easily. Enjoy wasting your time filling out countless "sign your email here to protest" forms

The blackout yesterday caused 10+ senators to flip on their support of PIPA and now say they will vote against it. I'd say that's having an effect.

All sorts of political propaganda is used whether it's content is true or not. Eventually, when people get pissed off enough, they do things that hurt a company's bottom line - and that is when change happens. You can bankrupt a company pretty easy if you are serious about it, just by causing daily problems that put production of value at a standstill.

If nothing else, those sites create awareness and discussion. The degree to which they get people to take the next step, of actually doing something like saying 'No, I will not have a Bank of America loan or account, I will go to a local credit union, etc' - that is where they have their effect. Companies care about their bottom line, regardless of the reasons or source behind the things affecting it. This is probably an attempt to actually shut down those sites too, to prevent people from discussing stuff that may or may not be true. You never know.
