I think people here are looking more for equality than for mechanics or play style...Just an observation of the posts but people are far more concerned of their not being consequences then cheaters benefiting from 3rd party programs...

that's not how it works. hardly anything drives players away from a game than cheaters, especially cheaters that go unpunished.

while nothing in UO is "fair" we should all be on a level playing field, each player with all the same options available to him as all the others.

I dont run windows 7; but when you do, cant you see your UO windows stacked, like slightly off when you run multiple clients? I only see one UO window in that SS in question.

This was reported to the GM's as soon as it happened, I was in IRC and my buddy was told by konnan that is what to do. THey know about it and I don't think anything has happened or will.

Someone who really scripts well could do all sorts of things that would make it very difficult to play or compete against them. Especially if they know and understand all the normal game mechanics.

I'm sure the staff needs to be hesitant in taking repercussions against players suspected of cheating without sufficient proof. There are many things that you can do with just razor or sallos that appear as if they are cheating when in fact they are not.

In order to detect cheating with 3rd party programs, they would probably need to develop additional tools to analyze the packets that come from an individual players computer, compare/adjust the information for ping related jitter, and see if things are being done repeatedly via computer delay or calculation(as opposed to with human error). This sort of thing would require additional time and effort or a specialist that is very familiar with recognizing the difference between typical human time delays and obviously computer generated ones. In short, it could be a lot of work for the staff. I can come up with other ways to go about it, but at the end of the day the cheaters are just making more work for the staff to even consider trying to police them.

I come across cheaters from time to time, usually the afk bot miners. I just kill them and move on. If a GM does suspect someone of using certain cheats, they can do things on the spot to see how the person's character reacts to it sometimes to determine if something is being done that cannot be performed by razor or sallos. Razor and sallos can do a hell of a lot, and it is sad that some folks feel that even with that it is not enough. But having real proof that someone is cheating isn't always that easy unless you have a GM right there that can test it as it is happening. Every now and again people that are really good at PVP get accused of cheating when in fact they are not.

KNOW that.. and just so all you newbie idocers know, manual placement is better than script... thats why i always place...

The people that do indeed cheat have their own problems to deal with. At the end of the day, they are still just another loser that was not good enough to win legit. They have no respect for staff, the other players, or Ryan who set this all up (with a lot of help from good people) for us all to play and enjoy for free. The cheaters are not fighting the power, although some probably think they are doing something clever and funny, and get off a little with the risk.

It just not always so easy to prove that someone is cheating. I'm sure people often waste the staff's time complaining about cheaters when they are unskilled or unknowledgeable enough to understand what is happening. Either way, these guys waste a lot of the staff's time that could be a lot better spent, and for that they deserve the utmost disrespect. If you know of someone who cheats, yet you still hang with them and benefit in a secondary way, you are not much better either.

If we're talking dynamics i'm with AC on this one... EUO for script placing doesnt really give any advantage. There are legal ways of placing (penny trick - and no, i wont explain this) that work just as fast, if not faster. The real problems are that you can use EUO to time IDOCs to the second and you can do it from really f'ing far away if your resolution is big enough.

It can also be used to gather resources unattended plus numerous other uses

and hes not the only player ive seen use scripts. id bet there is koreans right now scripting npc escorts 24/7 still .. using disguse kits so u cant page and turn em in by name.. ive turned em in a few times..
