i think there is a hardwade degrade

I hardly doubt that new hardware has any impact on the ping. The ping describes how fast packets move from your computer to the server and back, which depends on the route it takes and not the hardware of host you try to ping.....

there is something about moving over the new hardware

so i think it is at another host center and the connection seems worse than before

Moving to new hardware does not mean new data center.

For me the ping stayed pretty much the same, but I get those high pings from sending the packets across the Atlantic Ocean

If they moved to new data center then.... yes.
If they upgraded hardware then.... no.

If maybe b/c weather is really bad and some central router
is having problems.. and is down temporarily / which would cause your packets to be re-routed a new path then... yes this might cause slower ping.
