What's faster between katana/kryss and short spear/axe

What's faster between katana/kryss and short spear/axe

was curious what was faster, a kryss or katana.

Was also curious what was faster between any type of swordmanship axe and short spear.

Mainly asking cuz I'm trying to figure out what wep skill to use on my poison/dexer. Right now, I'm using fencing but I'm beginning to think that the concussion blow offered by axes is better against mages than the 1sec para blow offered by spears.

However, if an axe is hella slower than a short spear i may just stick with fencing cuz i wanna be able to swing fast enough to interrupt.

Katanas and Krysses are just as fast, the only difference is that they use different skills. Short spears are pretty good, slower than krysses, but they have para blow (or atleast i remember them having para blow). Axes aren't very fast, but do good damage and have concussion, which usually makes mages run like hell.

I thought short spears were the fastest in the whole game. I know that's how it is in AOS. In AOS they had a speed of 53 and I think krysses had a speed of 48 (?). Also, they should have para blow as they are a 2 handed fencing weap.

EDIT: Daggers might be faster... I don't remember.

Man skills here are so fast why even bother asking a question like this and waiting for responses? JUst test one out for however long you'd like then switch and test the other, draw your own conclusions.

This page is from stratics back in 2000 to 2001.

On the left menu side go to Statistics & Data, Combat related, Weapons.

Here I will list the speeds of what you asked. The higher the number the faster the weapon.

Katana: 58
Kryss: 53

Therefore katana is faster than a kryss.

The faster axes are the double axe, axe, and executioner's axe. Here they are compared to a short spear.

Short spear: 50

Double axe: 37
Executioner's axe: 37
Axe: 37

Therefore the short spear is faster.

wow very nice site Crystal.

Based on all this info, i'm now pretty sure i'll be switching to swords. As a dexer with poisoning, I find that in duels mages are my biggest problems. This is because they are able to cure my poison with ease and more importantly are able to cripple my swing time from their mana dumps. So in the past, a typical duel would consist of me alternating between dp kryss and spear, the spear being used to do more dmg and hopefully land a para blow, while the kryss being used to put the mage on the defensive.

With swords, I can rely on the conc blows to devastate any mage's mana pool while being able to deal a tad more damage with the katana. Granted, the fastest axe will suffer by about 25% in speed, but the ability to constantly put the mage on the defensive with the mix of dp+conc blows seems very much worth it.

Also, based on this http://web.archive.org/web/19990125092458/http://uo.stratics.com/ I have learned that many axes totally pwn in damage against an armored foe as compared to that of any fencing wep.

So against mages I will use Double Axe+katana...and against warriors i will use either 2handed axe, battle axe, or large battle axe since they all do around 70 dmg to armored people w/ a speed of 30.

where did you get the 70 dmg from? And from experience broadswords are one of the best swords weapons overall against mages or dexers. The katana is used when you want to disrupt the mage, but if you land a -50% int strike with the axe the broadsword is the better weapon to do some damage right after that. Try it out.

The broadsword in comparison to the war fork:

Broadsword: 5 to 29 damage

Warfork: 4 to 32 damage.

The broadsword is pretty good by the way. I know from gameplay experience.

The 70 is from the "Arms Study" section of the page and it is the amount of damage done to an enemy wearing 30 AR over 1 minute(assuming every swing hits).

and altho I have heard about broadsword being the 1hand weapon of choice, i still think katana is superior because it does more dmg over a 1 minute span (26 compared to the 20 of a broadsword) and it swings noticably faster (58 spd compared to 45).
