Resist is at 93, magery at 85

Mares Gain skills like players, Ever notice that when you train your last 7th skill its harder? So what Zeroing your pet down to 0 all skills does it Makes you gain Faster- Magery, resist, Med, Eval. Those are the ones you train first then you train wrestling, anatomy and tactics. Also your Dex and Int on Mare can be raised so lowering the skills and re-training can guarntee your mare has 125 int and 125 dex when done.

Also me and my friend are useing discordance while training mares seems to gain alot faster.. should try it.

I have just tamed one nightmare 524 str and 496 hits. It's str is great, but it's hits makes my pet a bad one? Worth training it to 7x GM? can hits and str raise too?

Nope, you cannot raise str and hits. White 524 is pretty good 496 Hits is rather crappy.
