Two Wolves
Knight
Denesuline Nation
The highway connecting Britain and Skara Brae to Yew winds its way through some wild stretches of woods with clearings sparse enough for a few settlers and remote enough for a brigands hideout. In the year reckoned as 333, a small war party of Wolf Clan people arrived, on a mission to visit upon brigands a great slaughter. They captured part of the brigands' camp – used it for their new village and have been waging an endless war of revenge killing ever since.
The Wolf Clan village is situated in the middle of what is considered traditional hunting grounds for the Dene (first people) also called Olekwol (true humans). Wolf Clan people are the descendents of one of three family clans of an ancient Chipewyan tribal group who originally settled in this part of Sosaria long before colonization by the forbearer civilization of Lord British; the Chipewyan people are now scattered and only survive in remote, isolated groups that have all but lost their original familiar clan identities. That - or are in hiding amongst the people of the cities that they call the vehoe, or White-Eyes.
Chief Naga Wolf and his war band, hard as it may seem to believe, claim to have come from another world (shard) and passed into this one by means of a passageway that is now closed. They call that land the Third World and the members of that band the Thirdworlders.
Naga Wolf, Silver Wolf, Two Wolves, Iron Wolf, Thunder Wolf
This world to them is called the Second World. And the Second World being not as far removed from creation (the First World), here they discovered powers still awakuna matata that they thought had been long lost to the age of myths. These 'old ways' involve the powers of shape shifting and spirit manipulation that had to them been the stuff of legends.
Back in the Third World the Wolf Clan was not scattered as it is here, but split in two - the Home Camp and the Exile Camp. They were torn apart by many years of war with the White-Eyes, but have preserved their tribal traditions and stories that have been handed down from the first days of man.
The War Band pursued a broken regiment of Brigands through the portal to the encampment where they have them cornered now. The word of the arrival of a Wolf Clan chief spread among the people. The news of the War Band was heard and the Wolf Clan Village was joined by some of their brethren in this world. Wolf Clan Village thus became a rallying point to reunite all the scattered Chipewyan tribal people. They arrived, young and old from all walks of life and all corners of the land to relearn their heritage from Naga, join in the war against the Brigands and resume a traditional way of life.
Formal recognition of the sovereignty of Wolf Clan Village and the rights of Olekwol for self determination in their traditional homeland was granted very recently in a treaty with Britain in the year 358, leading to the formation of a new independent state called Denesuline Nation.
Many things have passed in those twenty five winters; Orcs and Dark Elves attacked, many wars where fought, Wolf Mother usurped Naga Wolf for control of Wolf Clan government, Naga Wolf passed on to join with the ancestral spirits, Silver Wolf deposed Wolf Mother and became the next Chief causing Naga Wolf's son Two Wolves to be passed over in the line of Chiefs. Now the next generation of leaders, who grew up within the Village under Silver Wolf, are carrying on Naga Wolf's original vision of a unified family clan, in an age of relative peace and ease.
Since independence was achieved, right away the villagers set about making some improvements, now that they are no longer constrained on what can be built by the old laws of the land. The first things to be built were mobile campsites for the relief of those who spend many days at a time traveling away from home. The camp outside the village has an open basket that is kept stocked with supplies that are intended for the relief of travelers passing through.
Horses were being stabled within the village out of necessity until recently, but the construction of a horse corral just outside the village pike-walls has now been completed. This is of great benefit to saving space in the village, which is critical, because Wolf Clan people all live together in the village and pool their resources for the common good.
The next priority was building watch towers for keeping an eye on the road to Yew, now that Britain has stopped sending troops to man the guard outposts. Watching the road, the safety of travelers and hunters, and protecting the forest creatures from being killed unnecessarily is taken on by Wolf Clan Nota’xeo’o warrior society members. Travelers in this territory will find standards along the road warning against poaching or killing animals for sport. Hunting animals for resources is understood, but Wolf Clan takes a dim view of killing wolves and eagles, that they hold as sacred.
Since the standards went up along the road the Wolf Clan leaders have been approached by some of the more active settlers in the region, seeking an audience for granting permission to be counted as part of the community. They even spontaneously paid voluntary tribute to the village in the form of gifts of weapons and other resources.
There are no more improvements planned at this point, however if people come to settle in the area and they have a particular need, and it does not disrupt the natural way of things – then it will be considered and Wolf Clan leadership will communicate with the Sky People to get their blessings and help to make it so. Sky People determine how many of what type of resources will be required, then Wolf Clan people will help coordinate the resource gathering activity with your Guild Leader.
