Tailor BOD Odds v2.0
After sitting down, doing some more reasearch, and applying some serious math to the subject, I've figured out a new, improved calculation for determining what chances you have of acquiring certain types of BOD. Now, first off, a couple comments:
Basic BOD Odds:
After sitting down, doing some more reasearch, and applying some serious math to the subject, I've figured out a new, improved calculation for determining what chances you have of acquiring certain types of BOD. Now, first off, a couple comments:
- This will all assume that you're using a tailor with 120.0% skill. I've found that anything less than this skill will ALWAYS yield you a worse chance for all the major rewards: BRSK, HRSK, CBD, and even +20 tailoring scroll.
- I'm going to assume here that one will be filling out BODs in the manner that most people will; i.e, one will not fill BODs where the reward is worth less than the price of the materials required to fill it.
- These odds aren't gauranteed, as BOD generation is done through a pseudo-random number generator. These are anything but random, but can pass off functionally enough to work in a game. Plus, of course, just because you have x% chance to get a specific bod doesn't mean that x% of the BODs you get WILL be that specific BOD.
- The first thing determined is if you get a large or small. Getting a large BOD requires at least 70.1% tailoring, and has a base chance of ((your tailoring skill-40)/300), which means it starts at 10% at 70.1 skill, reaches 20% at GM, and 26.66% skill at 120.0%. The rest of the time you'll get a small.
- Next up is the choice of item. If it's a small, it's an equal chance of all valid items you HAVE A CHANCE make; that means 29 types of clothing, 4 types of footwear, 10 types of studded/bone, and 12 types of leather/female armor, for a total of 55 different possible items. (Because it's limited to what you can make, characters with only a point or so of tailoring skill will only ever get one of the 29 types of clothing)
- It's a little different if you get a large. For larges, you have a set of "outfits." Once you can get larges, you have an equal chance of ANY outfit; there are a total of 14:
- 9 larges that are 4-part (including one that is four types of cloth hat, and another that is four types of leather footwear; all others consist of 3 cloth items plus one leather footwear item)
- 3 larges that are 5-part, being the Town Crier outfit, Studded Armor set, and Bone Armor set.
- 2 larges that are 6-part, being the Leather Armor set, and the Female Armor set.
- It's a little different if you get a large. For larges, you have a set of "outfits." Once you can get larges, you have an equal chance of ANY outfit; there are a total of 14:
- Next up is the chance it can be colored. If the item is normally a leather-type item (footwear, studded, bone, leather, female) then there is a 1-in-512 chance of it calling for barbed leather, a 1-in-64 chance of it calling for horned leather, and a base 1-in-8 chance of it calling for spined leather. The remainind 439-in-512 chance will be ordinary leather.
- To get colored leather BODs you must pass a specific skill threshold in the first place, being 65.0 %for spined, 80.0% for horned, and 99.0% for barbed. Of course, these are all below even GM level.
- Cloth items skip that chance entirely, so they sifnificantly bring the entire chance to get colored BODs.
- The 4-part footwear BOD on Demise, in spite of being entirely "leather," and sorting in BOD books as such, will NEVER come in colored leather varieties. This did come in colored varieties on OSI at some point, though it is unknown if they still do.
- Next up is the quantity required. For any tailor with 70.1% skill or above, 50% of the BODs will be 20-count, and 25% each will be 10-count and 15-count. Obviously, since that's the same threshold to get large BODs in the first place, in all cases that's the odds for large BODs as well as smalls.
- Lastly comes the quality required. If the tailor's skill is 70.1 or higher (again), then there is a chance that small BODs will require exceptional-quality items equal to ((tailor skill+80)/200). In other words, it starts out at ~75% at 70.1% skill, and doesn't reach a full 100% chance until you hit 120.0%.
- For large BODs, there is a flat chance of 82.50% that it will require exceptional small BODS to fill it. The remaining 17.50% will be normal-quality, but CAN be filled with large BODs.
Basic BOD Odds:
- Odds to get any barbed leather BOD - 1-in-1,211 (0.08%)
- Odds to get any horned leather BOD - 1-in-151 (0.66%)
- Odds to get any spined leather BOD - 1-in-19 (5.29%)
- Odds to get any non-colored cloth/leather BOD - 1-in-1.06 (93.97%)
- Barbed Leather Runic Sewing Kit - 1-in-64.53 (1.55%)
- Horned Leather Runic Sewing Kit - 1-in-12.19 (8.21%)
- Spined Leather Runic Sewing Kit - 1-in-66.67 (1.5%) (This is for the large BOD only, as the smalls, being 20-count cloth/footwear, are completly commonplace)
- Clothing Bless Deed - 1-in-13.23 (7.56%)
- 20e Town Crier - 1-in-24.85 (4.02%) (This is for those gotten from the 20e Town Crier BOD, the only CBD BOD the majority of tailors fill. This includes all five smalls as well as the large)
- 20e Studded Leather - 1-in-28.31 (3.53%) (This is for those gotten from the 20e Studded Leather BOD, one I'd say 90% of tailors throw out, but due to time and difficulty concerns rather than cost, as the reward value greatly exceeds that of the raw materials)
- 20n 6-part Leather - 1-in-349.89 (0.29%) (This is the odds for the large BOD only. It would use all the commonly found smalls that would otherwise go to the +20 Tailor Scroll BOD)
- Legendary (+20) Scroll of Tailoring - 1-in-12.19 (8.21%) (Some of these BODS could alternately be used to fill a normal-quality CBD BOD)
- Level 5 Reward Cloth - 1-in-243.15 (0.43%)
- Tailor Reward Deco - 1-in-6.26 (15.98%) (Stretched Hides, Flower Tapestries, Bear Rugs)
- Garbage BODs - 1-in-6.14 (16.29%)
- Exceptional Resets - 1-in-2.50 (40.00%)
- 20e Cloth Resets - 1-in-5.56 (18.00%)
- 15e Cloth Resets - 1-in-2.78 (9.00%)
- 10e Cloth Resets - 1-in-2.78 (9.00%)
- Leather Footwear Resets - 1-in-25.00 (4.00%)
