(server up) Of The issues that occured February 5th, 2006

I apologize for the downtime today from 12PM Central to about 4:20 pm central.

It was caused by a string of unfournate events that started off with the connection to sallos flarbing up, combined with everyone havign access either not being around or sleeping in til 2 central in the afternoon. (ahem).

The other servers, Hybrid and Rebirth, also had similar problems, but, due to demise being kind of... a different world from the other two shards, they had their own staff to care of the problems there.

I apologize for the downtime and I will be makign sure that in the case of emergencies, more people and people will have access to fixes stuffs, and, more people will be able to contact me.

Um Im requesting my items back, you reverted the shard, I had to go to class, and so did my friend and we both lost are items, and one of the items was inreplaceable.
If you could just please pay us back it would be only fair.
We lost:
1.) The inreplaceable item the Spirit of the Totem, just earned previously.
2.) Storm Grips
3.) Lrc Suite
4.) Arcane Shield

I dont know what you have to do to replace are items we lost in your stupid revert , but please pay us back. I am extremley heated over this , I worked to hard to loose all my stuff to a server crash. now the LRC suite was nothing crazy, I mean it was 100% with using only 1 jewl, but the arcane, storm grips and totem are ridiculous losses. If there is no remberssment then I will say you are just flat out cold hearted.

How did you lose your stuff?

Did you die right before the last save before it crashed and not get back to your corpse when it came back up?

To the admins, we know it (obviously) sucks worse for you when it goes down than it does for us because of what you have to deal with afterwards... no need to apologize, it's not like you did it on purpose.

No I was down by the beach when I logged out on the last save, and then I woke up in the mage shop with no corpse and same with Shakira

I think the item insurance might help a lot.
By the way, I had all the rarities 11 and lost them all. I want them back

So you ban my account for trying to get my items back. I demand the ban be lifted. We didnt do anything illegal . get your head straight, we are the victims here, your stupid gm just placed a ban on me for no reason.

Ok,

From my understanding of the rules..
Items lost will not be replaced for any reason.
Items stolen by hack and so on will be replaced 'if possible'

Its just bad luck.
I dont think your gunna get them back..
And i think maybe you are alittle 'too' demanding and that is why you got banned?

Take a breather and pm the last person you spoke to about the items.
Then ask them politly "Why was i banned?"
Then look at investigating what has become of your items.

I have lost stuff in the past in similar ways .. small revert to when i was dead so body decayed.

I lost some stuff and i learnt the following:
Insurance is in for a reason USE IT..

I understand the feeling ( ive been there ) and while outright banning for the first post alone without warning might a little bit seem excesive ( we dont know about pm harrasement of the staff however ) you just have to get used to the fact that demise is a work in progres. Save very few exceptions ( like tamers losing pets that are relatively hard to regain like good hiryus ) you can avoid most big time loses.

All the people involved there are in the wrong.

But here's a few things:
Staff will NOT replace items. ESPECIALLY during a revert due to a crash.

The players were out of line by what he said, thge ausations, the demands and the insults.

The staff was out of line for threatening getting someone else to ban before exhausting other options that THEY can handle FIRST, ie squelch/pagesquelch. And jailtime. And also out of line by their response to the Player, the derogatory 'tone', and the lack of understanding and being unable to take a (non-directed at the original tiem of paging) verbal blow when a player is understandably frustrated.


The player accts in question which got the ban have been changed from infinite to five days.

I will be speaking with involved staff tomorrow when I can get a hold of 'em.

The should be a sticky or a broadcast every certain time telling people to insure or don't complain when items are lost :\

That'd lower this situations in a 10 or 15% (...)

Well ... it's clear that the player(s) was wrong. In any circumstances the staff shouldn't be blamed for the server crash and the result in the lost items. And the reaction of this player(s) is far too aggresive/insulting etc.

Sorry but you devoted your time to your own pleasure, and it's the staff that sacrifices the time to keep it all working

On the other hand, the staff meber was out of the line too. Sorry but I'm sure it's not the first 'crazy' player you had(have? ) and surely not the last one. This shard grows nicely and there are lots of new ppl coming so be prepared to have more problems with them. Work on your patience and learn how to talk/deal with them in proper way.

BTW: I just read on wikipedia ( hehe ) that Demise is the test shard so we're the ones who'll get most of the bugs and crashes ... but I'm fine with that since we're first to get all the new stuff

Thanks for getting us back up. You guys rock. And everyone chill out. The admin shouldn't be expected to give back items for any reason, because think of how many people would just lie to get some items. Then the price of these items would go down since everyone would have them.

I was one of the 1st Counselors on Sonoma "way back when", and that guy would have got a ban there too for that kind of mouth.

I would have just re-enforced the official policy. "I'm really sorry, but it's against the policy to return any items, I just can't do it". Even so, I remember what it was like to have to deal with people who's in game life seems to be more important than RL and it gets very tiring.

stormgrip? you can get enough tots for a new pair of those in 2 days im thinkin. faster if u play a long day or have a friend help. LRC suit? that will take about 2 minutes to re-assemble. the arti well thats a bummer but it happens to everyone.

like forgetting to lock down a BOD book and losing over 200 small spined BODs. or dying and not getting to your body and realizing afterwards you didnt have enough gold in the bank. or just being unlucky like you in this case. just happens. yes you freak out but theres not much u can do except learn from your mistakes or quit playing.

im glad u are talking to the staff member involved. you cant expect the players to behave perfect and then let staff call names, insults, and ban people just because a player is upset and out of line.(ok yes if they are calling your mom names or something)im glad to see no one is perma banned over an unfortunate event as you are all so quick to point out, its just a game. your supposed to have fun, not yell at staff or abuse your power. thats more like real life heheheh.
