New question about armor

Okay, for a mage, what armor is best to wear for pvp?

GM leather seemed popular on OSI. Is there a reason not to wear barbed?

Also do people wear the vet reward robe and cloak for extra protection?

I ask because it seems that GM leather is useless.

I have been given suggestions to farm dragons for leather but am unwilling to take the time for that.

I have a GM tailor, who I use to make GM leather. Should I go with Barbed? Seems like not much difference to my overall AR.

Should I wear the ugly cloaks? Should I wear the ugly helmets?

What do most people do here against dexxers?

(I know about magic armor too, but don't feel like buying it or farming for it.)

:) thanks to all replies in advance.

why do I have to wear a lame looking cloak and helmet?

why not buff GM armor, so we don't have to look like dweebs running around?

why the heck is gm armor so crappy?

who the heck wants to spend time farming magic armor???

who wants to go looking for it on the vendors???

...

rage post... so mad

20 AR is terrible

25 AR is still terrible and looks lame as heck with a cloak and helmet

its pretty self explanatory you wear what gives you the most armour, which is barbed robe/cloak if your gunna be cheap and not buy magic armour, you can aslo cast reactive armor and arch protection gives u about 12 armor i think

what do u think is minimum amount of armor that will get me by? how good is 30 AR?

against strong weapons like vanq/faction

if I wear the cloak and helmet I can get 36 with arch protection

without those I can get 30

I will be trying barbed armor out

the results are great with protection on and reactive armor

thanks again

update: barbed takes way too much time and leather to get GM

will probably sacrifice AR for vanity... cant stand looking at the cloak, and I like wearing a bear hat..

Should we just negate the entire idea of farming good loot?

With Arch Protection and a set of GM Armor, and with a Cloak and Robe on (Vet Reward) The AR is JUST good enough to fight most dexxers. Against a faction weapon or vanq weapon, the AR rating is not substantial enough.

The problem is that the armor is underpowered and the weapons are overpowered.

I mean, I do fine, but you won't see me joining factions.

But to your point about farming good loot. That is fine, but with the way gank squads go around, you won't hold on to it very long. You will probably be farming more than you are pvping, that's for sure.

I haven't had problems with dexxers recently, but then again the ones I have fought weren't very good.

This post was before I knew about Arch Protection, which transformed the game for me, and allows for me to wear GM leather without worrying.

Surprisingly enough, I am still finding out more and more about this game and I've been on hybrid on and off for 4 going on 5 years.
