Gm taming, engouh magery to gate. Money time?

I searched for guides how to make money but it's all the same.
Make 3 characters, start tailloring...

I don't want to play like this, i would like someone to actually explain me how i can make money with taming and magery.

I heard somewhere i can escort npc? Where are they? How do i do this. Can i buy a runebook for a cheap price somewhere?

Where are the famous rare mount that i am supposed to tame with gm taming? Is it possible to solo tame rare mount and resell them?

Any monsters are worth kiling that wont require a full squad of players?

I'm a noob tamer and i'm looking for a way to make money without alts! Can someone please help me

Thanks!

Well.... while making a mage tamer IS prolly the best way to make large amounts of money, Its prolly not the best way to get STARTED.

I sugguest making a peace warrior. There virtually free to make and can yield large amounts of cash easily. (you could even make a plaino 4x macer and farm the ant hills to get started) Anywho, with a peace warrior you can kill anything that can be peaced. Plain and simple. While sometimes finding a vendor or a carp willing to sell you a GM instrument, you can farm alright with just a storebought one.
Go like this:
Swords/Macing
Tactics
Anatomy
Healing
Music
Peacemaking
Magery50ItemID50
100s/ 100d/ 25i.

START with 50 magery and 50 healing!
Use your starting gold to buy around 3-5 instruments from a NPC carpenter and train peacemaking to GM at a low population bank somewhere. Then once Music and Peacemaking is GM, go to the cotton fields and gather some cotton to spin into bolts of cloth. Cut those up to make bandages. Then go farm where ever you feel comfortable with your current level of skill. With 50 magery you can recall and mark your own runes with scrolls so you should be a 100% self sufficent money making machine!!!

If You WANT to go the tamer route, then GM taming first and foremost. Do NOT raise lore or vet till taming/magery is done.

START with 50 taming/ 50 Magery and 40 INT!! (You can gate with 50 magery using scrolls if you have the 40 int to cast the spell!)

**If you plan on having resist on your tamer I sugguest starting with 50 of that instead of magery and using your noob gold to buy up magery and train from there AFTER, I repeat AFTER you train your taming!!!

Step 1, GM taming. There are plenty of guides on it and I dont remember how so I cant tell you directly.

Step 2, GM Magery/Med. If you can get lucky and tame a drake or something it would be best, but polar bears or some savage type of wolf will work too. Anywho, farm at a GY, the ant hill, ANYWHERE to make money and spend it all on GMing you magery and med (resist too if you want it) Again there are guides out there, but I train it like:
0-30 Buy
30-40 3rd circle (Usually fireball)
40-65 4th circle (Usually lightning or ManaDrain)
65-GM 6th AND/OR 7th Circle (If Your training resist w/o healing just use ManaVamp from here, If your training healing its usually cheaper to do e-bolt till 85 then FS to GM)

Step 3 Fill out your temp and train Lore and Vet.
Do any "Costly" skills before lore/Vet. If your going peacemaking you can do that last cause its cheap enough to do. For Vet/Lore, just tame a couple of any bear. Tell em to "All guard me" so they flag for combat (grey) then tell one to attack the other, then the other to attack the first. Then all you have to do is gather up about 2k bandages and make a macro to heal one, pause for like 6 seconds, then heal the other, then pause for 6 seconds, then loop it.

Hope this helps!

AHH! Well, the easiest way I know to find the ant hill is to take the road leading out of SW brit and go through the infamous mountain pass and follow the road north. Once you come to a SECOND guard tower, one that crosses over the road. Take an immideate right and head NW. You can miss the giant hole in the ground. Prolly the fastest way for you to get there is to spam WBB asing for a gate to the ant hole. Just bring a blank rune and a way to mark it!! : )

Drakes are DEFENATLY at destard... They might be other places though.

Polar bears are on Ice island.

You can run to destard, but its a LOOOONG way. Ask around the bank for a gate to these places.

A program I HIGHLY reccomend is UO Auto Map (UOAM for short) Do a google search for it. Its basicly a giant map of britania with everything marked.

Good luck!

Re: Gm taming, engouh magery to gate. Money time?

As far as making any money taming pets and selling them, there are many pets that sell, I wouldnt say you are going to make alot of money doing it. You can tame beetles for around $4k, Nightmares usually 5k unless they have really good stats or are trained and they can sell for upto 1.2 million. White Wyrms sell for about 5k untrained., and dragons sell for about the same 5k unless they are trained. You can make quite a bit more money with the bigger pets by farming monsters. Unless you get into training mares and dragons, but you will need a place to do this and thousands of bandaids and hundreds of steaks, and an alt vet wont hurt either.

Re: Gm taming, engouh magery to gate. Money time?

Pets and farming is my specialty. Just do what I say and you should be fine. I restarted about 5 days ago with only 70k, now I own a decent house, have thousands of regs, and have a humble bank account. I do not recommend taming and selling pets as a means of income, most people aren't looking to buy unless you manage to tame a pet with VERY high stats, and those are extremely rare.

First off, you still have a lot of work before you can start farming. Animal Lore and Veterinary is a MUST, you have no chance of farming anything decent without the above two skills. This could go after the second step, since you'll need money to buy bandages.

Second, do you have regs? If not, I suggest you go to Skara Brae, and buy gating/recall regs, and do escorts for awhile until you can buy about 1k of each regs. If you don't have a rune book and markings, that's going to take you some more time.

Third, make sure you have a runebook and runes. Go to Britain and ask someone to gate you to Tessa's Rune Library. From there, start looking for monster spawn locations, Recall there and start marking farming spots. I'd go for Liches, Dragons, and Daemons. They're easy, and give good enough loot.

Once you have that, it's time to buy or tame your first dragon. But if you want to start farming right away, you're going to need two. One to stable for week until it bonds, and the other so you can farm while waiting for the other one to bond.

As far as skills go, I wouldn't recommend Spell Resistance. Monsters will always attack your pet first, unless you move ahead of them. Even then, you can sick your pet and run away and hide/lose sight anyways. I don't find myself needing Meditation either, there is only one spell I regularly use, Recall. Sometimes Greater Heal when I need Healing, In Lor when it gets dark, and Magic Reflection for some magic protection.

I would personally recommend you work in Musicianship and Provocation/Peacemaking (or both) to help with the tougher areas/monsters. These skills open up a lot more locations to farm, and they make it a lot easier.

Some of that seems pretty hard, but try doing it yourself as a poor newbie. I'd be willing to give you with more tips and even help you out if you want, just PM or AIM me.

Does a gm instrument give better success chances?

Re: Gm taming, engouh magery to gate. Money time?

samuricex, NICE :)

Actually i have 1,5k of each regs (Given by the nice guy who made the "2k regs post")

I made like 10 000 farming ants (Its in my bank)

Im Gm tamer, 100meditation, 90magery, 70 resist

I have my runebook with a few runes

Obviously your build is for pure Farmage, i was planning on having a tamer/mage hybrid (without provocation) but im not sure anymore if it would really be usefull for me to be a mage lol. Considering my current skills/money, what would u suggest me to do? (not that i am unable to take a decision myself but im looking from advice and you look pro tamer )

Here is the build i was doing

Animal Taming
Animal Lore
Veterinary
Magery
Resist
Meditation
Evaluating Intelligence

and heres what you suggesting me

Animal Taming
Animal Lore
Veterinary
Magery
peacemaking
Musicianship
Provocation

Can you explain my why is everyone going Peacemaking and not provocation? And hmm is it too late to swich build considering im gm meditation and 70resist?

Re: Gm taming, engouh magery to gate. Money time?

You've got more than enough to turn around and go for a pure farmer, if you want to. If you're going to make this guy a farmer, there really isn't any reason for him to not be a Tamer/Bard. You'll just be sitting there bandaging your pet the whole time anyways. You won't notice a dent trying to help your pet by casting magic. If you're going pure farmer, I'd suggest going Bard now, if you're going to be doing other things with this guy, then secondary Mage may work better. It's not too late to switch, I usually get my Meditation up to 100 when making my Tamer also, to help with raising Magery.

For me, I go with Peacemaking over Provocation because it's the safer choice, and the one I use more. Peacemaking has a better chance of succeeding (in my experience), while Provocation has the bigger payoff. Also, most people farm single creatures, which makes Provocation useless.

Re: Gm taming, engouh magery to gate. Money time?

TBH, I have a tamer like you were planning on doing first. I prefer being able to defend myself over easy farming. With bandages + GM Magery/Med & 100int + G Heal, you can farm anything. With 35 dex, it takes like 5 seconds to use a bandage. In that time you can rip off two greater heals. With the greater heals, your aids flowing, and a decent str dragon taking the hits, you can outheal virtually anything. Yes it requires you to run through like 150-200 bandages per trip (unless your collecting the leather) bandages are cheap (free actually) and youll be making far more money than you use on g heal regs.

If you like no challenge (unless a pk comes) farming, then by all means take peacemaking instead of eval and resist. With peacemaking you can just peace the monsters and make them stand there motionless while your pets beat them to hell. Plus it makes taming ANYTHING a fucking breeze. Just peace it and tame away. No beating it down with a nightmare then para taming it for you!

Me, myself, and I think that taming is the lamest skill in UO. Even though its SO lame that I myself have a tamer, I sleep at night by taking the hardest PvM tamer possible. It just so happens to be one of the better ones for protecting myself if Im attacked.
