Doom and Things (Re: 17 days in Doom)

As far as Indica saying 'melee go whirlwind, gg' - well yeah that's easy if you a toon suited to the gills with a hundred mil setup. The sad thing is that this technique actually screws over any other template there, because it's a way to pump out extra mobs that they can whirlwind and keep the whole thing going, but those mobs create a problem for every other player... basically the sampire is able to use other mobs to boost their DPS by spawning them, whereas every other template is now hindered because they have to kill off threatening spawn and lower their DPS, or take extra hits from random spawn and thus lower survival/DPS. This should all be quite obvious.

Well I don't think I worded it quite like that... and there are guys on my team who have made an ABC swords character working with less than one million gold, and they do whirlwind just fine and get artifacts like that. You don't have to be in vamp form, but it does make it a lot better. Also a lot of players who don't do Whirlwind still get looting rights on all the other mobs just fine. I.E. Calvin and those ABC archer and archer-tamer guys. If your having problems with the spawn of the dark fathers, use bone cutter. It takes about 5 seconds to set up and works wonders :D I don't typically spawn any extra spawn off Dark Fathers because I am running bone cutter, and any extra mobs that do spawn is typically made by people standing too far that are not using bone cutter for themselves, which I cannot help that.

I don't have a problem with it - I'm just saying those situations either lower my damage output or lower my survivability. There's only a few situations with my setup where it's a struggle to maintain high dmg output (or risk dying), and that's one of them. I suspect it's same for some others in this scenario, judging by their comments and actions in game when it occurs. There's a reason people sit in corner.

In retrospect, yes. But at 6:30am, all I wanted to do was recall, log, and sleep... zero fucks were given in the moment beyond the keyboard spam. Didn't even catch the end of that horrible movie!

Besides, I ain't done with that place yet... Totem I'm comin for you!!!

Thanks, Infinity. Like I said, I'm not done there yet... who knows, maybe I get another one. Lightning can strike twice! I look forward to many more disappointing nights, and hopefully another epic pull before the holidays arrive. :awesome::rofl:

its funny...its almost as if no one in here has ever been to a casino. Slot machines don't give you any statistical chance of a guaranteed "drop" at all, yet people play because they want the shinies (unless you are these guys... http://www.wired.com/2013/05/game-king/ ). That's basically gauntlet, but free (prior to the point system). Anything worth having shouldn't be easy to get. I preferred doom prior to the point system....

However, if everyone was able to obtain all their desired Doom artifacts within a day, there would soon be no point in keeping Doom around at all. The server would be flooded with them. This also goes for Treasures of Tokuno, which is not enabled permanently for the same reason.

What is the problem with this again? Why does UO have to be synonymous with grinding? I mean sure, the game has limited PVE content. Everyone knows that there is life after PVE, and it is called PVP. There are only a few "big ticket" TOT's now, with scrappers and runic fletching released and plentiful. TOME and Horselord are somewhat irrelevant now. Dyes could have been an amazing customization feature in this game, but OSI made them unplentiful and rare (this was their decision and I do not put this on UOG staff)

As for Doom, not only do drops take a good while for the average person, but the pool is so large and convoluted with useless items, that the odds of getting something you want, is maybe about 1 decent drop per month of doing 10 rounds a day. I believe the drops are unbalanced, compared to say what Champion Spawns drop.

This is coming from someone who has about every item he wants or needs, and has enough gold to play reasonably for the rest of time of this shard.

Also , I believe that if they artifacts had more chances to drop, this would bring the pvp up. I mean who wants to grind and spend "17 Days" in doom and nothing. People have lives. Personally I ran about 13 hours of giant let & only got 1 artifact( Bone Crusher) I don't have the time or effort to keep spending 12 hours everyday for something I want. Also Ornaments wouldn't be breaking people's banks.

i ran guantlet with a very efficient toon and arty drop now and then. but still spawn is more lucrative if u know how to do it.

A double points week every few months wouldn't hurt the artifact prices. I agree going too overboard and being able to get every item you want in a day isn't something I would want. Otherwise everyone would just play on test center. Even if you doubled the points permanently, as previously mentioned there a number of useless artifacts to even it out.

Well even so, if they had a set number on the gauntlet point system. I know on other servers who have the point system, have a set number. One server is 56. Each room is 1 point. That still roughly 10 rounds. I still believe with a gauntlet point system , they're should be a set number. So we aren't grinding for 4-5 months trying to get what we want. I mean this is a 20 year old game.

people always say "i dont wanna farm in old game to succeed blabla" well i dont wanna farm in new games either, but fuck i have to. its part of MMOs, much time invested equals in greater rewards. so suck it newbs change game if u dont like it.
