I only really used explo pots on the harrower..

also, I never did gm resist or magery on my main guy on OSI.. but I got decently high in resist with EField below stairs. that was a neat trick.

no one used potions. a GM alchemist was RARE, and it def. didnt add damage bonuses. People sure as hell werent using explo pots in PvP. It was too expensive, no one could afford to...

Hell, being a GM mage practically made you god back then. Skill and stat gain was SLOW and HARD. I remember I would spend an entire day mining just to gain a few pts of strength on my main character. There was no arms lore macroing back then.... You had SS for int and Hiding for dex....

Plus you had tank mages and tank thieves. Dex didn't matter for melee damage and there was no eval int, so tank mages would have a melee skill and magery and be able to whip ass. Same with thieves.. And if you had resist, you were a god. There was house break-in bugs (gating into a house from the front door), and summoning a deamon and have him walk into the house and fetch out peoples shit. the dupe bug... anyone remember the resist bug? for Resist at one point you'd be able to have NPC mages stand in town, then you stand outside of town.. .and let them rape you with magic. IT would do 0 damage but your resist would gain.

Plus you could loot bodies while hidden and stay hidden, steal items from monsters, and we used to gate in huge hoards of NPC mobs into deceit, hide, watch them kill everyone, then loot the shit out of them.... You used to be able to loot houses, now THAT was fun. Town steal someones run + key combo, make a copy, then rob the shit out of their house.... THIS is the UO stuff I want back!!!!!

That was back when we had the Karma system... lol... Then the whole stat-loss thing came into affect... but even then it was still fun, just harder to PK. anyone remember any of this? Just reminiscing here... wondering if I'm just an old out of touch fool. I came back to this server just recently after playing it for a little while like 3 or 4 years ago (havent played uo since), and I feel out of touch. 'Vent syncs', explo pots, runics... it sure as hell IS item based. I feel like I'll never be the PvPer I used to be.....it sucks and it looks like i'll never get it back. Course back in those days, you could run north of brit and find a bunch of helpless newbies mining and smithing ore in the mountain, and murder them quick. Now no one is a newbie and they just macro arms lore anyway. Gay =P
You should try Divinity, Its another UOGamers shard with a ruleset similar to what you described - only skill gain isn't quite as hard and without the bugs. In fact, if you're using razor it has an option to pick divinity/hybrid/demise when starting up on the welcome screen.
