Another split shard of UoG:Hybrid - 12-03-2006, 11:03 PM

I think it would be nice for those who actually want a fresh start without ruining anyone elses game to create a copy of hybrid and name it something else. This would provide palyers with a whole emprty new server which would be just like the "server whipe: but players that actually dont want it can stay.

benefits: -many new lands on the current server and more lands on the new one. We all know how expensive houses currently are :/
-A good chance for new players to have a fresh start: build the first house, farm the first money, be the first guild
-All the ranks will be at 0. Its almost impossible to get on the top pk anymore...
-Just a fun challenge in general

counters: -less palyers on the current shard
-major changes in the economy
-lack of hardware
-ryan not wanting to make one :/

So yeah my suggestion is for admins (Ryan) to make another server which would be the same as hybrid but will eb called something like Hybrid#2 and host it as 2nd server for players to play. What do you guys think???

Ps: how do i make a poll...?

id personally love to run around a fresh shard and would probably move there and start over. for me the fun of UO is building your guys up and having those adventures in the early part of your career. after i get established and rich with a nice house i generally lose interest and move on to something else. i love uog for life though :/ would be hard choice

I don't think so, I think Hybrid should take more an effort to get an increased playerbase (although with the red gank squads this may be difficult); and perhaps open to the newer lands to help even out the population.

As it is the connection count is not accurate unless it takes into account how many IPs connected there are, I hear of people having 3 clients open at once -- ridiculous.

I was thinking about this once, having mostly in mind that europe suffers from Hybrid's lag. So i will agree with nastydevil's suggestion adding a couple of things.
ok 1. Would be the location: Europe (i volunteer to help )
2. Dont start it from zero. Make a total copy of the shard, then script both shards so that everything remains frosen till their owners decide where they wanna go the first time they login. I have 4 accounts. 3 have houses in the same area so lets say those go to "EuroHybrid". One account has another random house, lets keep that account in America. I guess we will get a result of 800 vs 400 persons of average players on line for each shard. Then with the new-power of the Hybrid name let them growth!
3. Add a new donation item: Character or account transfer deed.

And many many more stuff that doesnt come to my mind right now. I have been thinking about this over a month now, if this is put seriously on the table i guarantee to be productive!

Im sorry i didnt expend much on the subject, but i personnally think it would be great to have a fresh start without harming the current population. Post whether you guys agree or dont agree with this and your reasons or perhaps better suggestions. or is this even possible?

The second shard will just be the same with the first one as time goes and the only thing it can do is to reduce the player number to half. Forget about new players when old players are leaving.

The problem with Descartes' line is its incompleteness: the people who cannot think, but yet they are, demonstrably, there.
