This guide is great. I'd like to add a note to Inscription. The skill can be easily raised from 0-50 by simply getting 2 purple books from a provisioner, typing stuff in the books, use the skill Inscription, Target book A then Target book B in about 2 seconds a message will say if you copied the book or not. Then use the skill again Target book B then Target Book A and repeat. This method works well if you don't want to buy reags and scrolls to work the skill from 30-50. On this shard you may just be able to Target book A then Target book B and keep doing just that over and over.

I agree with the posts above, it's a great thread.

For parrying, there is an alternative way to train it that is incredibly fast and takes a little under a half-hour to GM. Go to Jhelem farms and attack 4-5 (4 if you have under 70 healing/5 if you have over) chickens or sheep. Dont attack cows or bulls as bulls do too much damage and cows attack too slow. Equip nothing but a shield and set your status to peace and the animals will attack you - and you won't attack back. Unless you have really low stats you can go away 10 minutes at a time without dying, myself I just watched tv in the meantime. It took a little more than a half hour to get from 30-GM but getting to 30 can be bought/isn't hard to get.

another tip - 05-19-2005, 04:28 PM

to get your Resist magic to 30 instead of buying it just use the spell fire field not only will it raise your resist but it will raise your magery, and intellegence. what mage don't need both lol. doing this will only raise it to 30.0 under show real.

U can actually macro lockpicking. I used 5 "30 tinkering chests", put each key inside lock em all, then pick them all. With a key inside, u cant unlock the chest with a key b/c when you try to double click the key in the locked chest, it says I cant reach that.

Then move up to the "60" and "90" chests and do the same thing.

And actually the gain from lockboxes is totally based on your tinkering skill.

U can be gm carpenter, and have 30 tinkering and the lock is exactly the same than if you weren't gm carpenter.

Am I doing something wrong? I bought a pack llama, filled it with books (all different kinds, because I wasn't sure which one, some weigh 1 stone, others weigh 2, I dunno) anyways... So I say "all guard" and such and start stealing the books, first I do a couple with the pack open and actually targeting them, nothing. Then I tried the random steal technique... nothing. I have 50 steal and it says to steal books from 0-60. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
