Rules for Roleplayers
(staff assisted and those wanting to be)
Last Updated January 24, 2006
These rules are only for guilds that are staff assisted or wish to become assisted. If you are not then you may disregard these rules and follow whatever rules you wish (as long as it's permitted on the server).
Out of Character Chat – roleplayers must be in character at all times while in public view (unless talking to staff). You can use parties, guild chat, AIM, Ventrilo, Team Speak, or any other private means of communication to speak out of character.
Ethereal Mounts – the use of these are left up to the guildmaster of the guild. They would hopefully be used in a roleplay way so it's not completely out of character to have one. If your roleplaying a gargoyle it would be really out of character to ride around on an ethereal llama.
Looting
RPers – while fighting other roleplayers you are limited in what you can take from their corpse after you kill them. The object is to fight with each other to have fun not just to loot them dry to profit but there needs to be a winner and taking the ability to keep the fight going will make sure a single skirmish doesn't last for hours.. The current items that are lootable are
weapons, potions, reagents, keys, and ammunition. All other items should be left on the corpse so that they can try to retrieve it later after they revive.
Non RPers – for the immediate time this is being left up to each individual guildmaster to decide for their guild.
Attacking Others – from now on when roleplayers want to attack an another RP guild or an innocent person (anybody that just happens to be there at the time and doesn't know aggressive action is going to be taken against them) they have to give that person a chance to escape unless they are attacked first. That warning can be in many various forms such as verbal threat, shooting the person with an arrow, casting magic on them, knocking them off their mount with a bola, or any thing else that won't kill the person before they know what is happening. Just give them a few seconds to decide to run off or if they choose to fight before you attack fully. If they stay there then they are free game. If they choose to run away they will sometimes try to get help and come back for a real fight.
The exemption to the above rule is if your in a guild war, faction, chaos/order or something like that with the person(s) your attacking. If you are then the person your attacking is no longer innocent and clearly choosing to fight anybody that comes along so your free to use whatever tactics that your guildmaster has setup.
