yea i wouldnt put a game wide chat channel where everyone can talk into, thats just asking for a bunch of shit talking. A [who and a private messaging system would work.

Also like a broker system at brit bank where people can put what they want for sale log off and come back on and it be sold or still be on the broker. Not sure if thats possible but would be good. Would cut down on the spammers and what not.

Gah, the last game I played had a universal chat system. Often I would log in, be in "tell hell" for the duration and log out. The only solution was to have my AFK flag up pretty much the whole time directing people to just mail me instead.

I don't know the first thing about this goof-ball "UO chat system" and I don't play the same role here but I wouldn't want to return to that if I could help it.

You realize [who for 1200 people is like 65 pages, right?

A message system in game would just get abused. If you want to talk to people you can find them in game or contact them out of game.

The solution to having more people on IRC? Surprise, if you all used IRC then everyone would be on there. The in-game chat will have the same problem... No one will use it because every time they go on it it will be empty.

The other big problem with in-game chat is there is no administration interface for it and no staff would want to babysit it anyways... so it would just be filled with spammers/griefers/whatever.

IRC is the solution to all of these problems. Really.

I didnt say add a who I think if you added a menu where we could just type the name of the person we are looking for would be a great idea then the fielders could set up field fights and all kinda shit just through pm!

i know i would use it, i don't log into irc for many reasons but having a chat system right there in game would be cool
