Unable to speak in guild chat

I've had an issue since reinstalling UO, I can't seem to get guild chat to work. I'll type it using the correct "\" and when I hit enter it just appears above my head as normal chat would.

Do I need to patch my client further or am I doing something wrong?

You need to type [g before your message to talk in guild chat, the \ does nothing here.

To be honest, I wish they'd make both of them work. "\" is a better way of doing it.
