"Twilight Descends" Demise Campaign Official Rules & Information

"Twilight Decends" is a roleplaying campaign that will take place in the setting of Ultima Online that has been created since the DRP's creation in February.

Guilds and players have come and gone, but a social and governmental climate, organically created by its members has endured beyond expectations. Someone does something wrong, they are hunted in some form of another, and brought to trial based on our own civilized law. Players and characters take it upon themselves to create events for everyone to enjoy. Certain members of the DRP are known and respected by others for helping out regularly. The DRP has grown to be all over the map, from the Northwestern reaches of Yew where the Guardians of Sosaria, Guardsmen of Yew, Wolf Clan and The Kingdom Of Bretonnia reside, to the Southeastern Vesper area where the DRP Capitol sits, and an ancient evil elvish race is being reborn. Not to mention the little populated area near the Desert of Compassion and the Swamp of Desolation. This 'civilization' has come far in its short lifespan. Its time to reward its members for their dedication and fortitude, and 'cash in' on its success with a big all inclusive roleplaying event.

How do I sign up my character or guild?
How to Join, join demise roleplayers alliance.
CLICK HERE and post in this thread.
(rpring members)I'll be sending you a private massage to discuss your personal role in the story.

Ok, I've signed up. Now what is expected of me, and where do I fit in?
Log into the Demise shard and play the character that you had signed up with. If you've volunteered your home for use in the campaign, at some point I'm going to be asking about that privately. If you've signed up your guild, make sure that they are open to this whole thing, and ready to go. Nothing really is required of you that you're not already doing. PLAY YOUR CHARACTER, and do what they would do when they face a situation. (This includes Ruiner, who will ALSO be IN character from here on out.)

I WILL NEVER ask you to do something that your character wouldn't normally do. (One of my NPC's might, but that's IN game) How it's going to work is this, I'll use NPC's and other methods to give you clues, ideas, and other cryptic information. What you do with that information is COMPLETELY up to you. In one way or another, I will show you proverbial doors, and it is up to you to walk through them. Sometimes you'll have to figure out HOW to walk through them. What you decide will effect how the story progresses. Indecision, or inactivaty will ALSO effect the outcome. I do ask one thing from you, however that you DON'T normally do. PLEASE keep in touch with me either in game or on here VIA Private message. When you make a decision or a plan with your character or guild, I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT IT ahead of time so I can write it into the story.

If you have done something with your character that could possibly involve the story, I need to know about it. This action, idea, or decision of yours COULD POSSIBLY effect some other character on the other side of the shard, and I need to factor that in. If you don't let me know what your plans are, this big experiment is doomed to failure. If you do this for me, it could become a lot of fun.

On the list, why does it say (Waiting For Feedback) next to my name?
Because I don't have enough information about your character or guild to write them into the story. I've either sent you a message, and you have not responded, or for some other reason, I need more information from you. I have not yet written you into the story, but the moment you give me more info, I will.

I was thinking about signing up, but I havn't yet for one reason or another.
The sign up page will never be locked so you can wait and see how it's going before signing up. Fair warning though, the sooner you sign up with your character or guild, most likely the more important your character or guild will be to the story. But its still very possible to become an important part of the campaign.

This is stupid. I want no part of this.
Why are you in a roleplaying alliance? Seriously, If you decide NOT to sign up, your character or guild will NOT be written into the story and will not be an important factor. I cannot promise that you won't get caught in the crossfire. There's going to be a lot of PvP situations, and theres a very good chance that you're going to end up involved in a skirmish in one way or another. Sorry about that. (Sosarian laws still apply, you may file charges if you wish)

I have my own events that I want to start! How will this effect it and vice versa?
Two Wolves has his 'Battle For Britain' that he's been working on, and Sirros has been thinking about doing a 'Recruitment Fair' for a little while now. To be clear, these events can only help the campaign move forward. These things will encourage character interaction, and HOPEFULLY strict roleplaying. If everyones stays in character, I can even write the events into the story if I know about them in advance. Bjorg has a little event that he's been interested in getting together. IT WILL be a part of the story, and I hope the campaign helps his event be more successful.

When is this going to start?
Within the next few days. I have to warn you though. It's not going to be "BOOM! ACTION!" It's going to subtlety and slowly build with a couple characters noticing something odd out of the corner of their eye or a cryptic clue here and there. The more these kinds of things are noticed, and the more those players react, the more noticeable the story and the scenario will become until eventually everyone has had some sort of experience. more things will happen and those things will lead to bigger things. Things will have a snowball effect. Eventually that snowball will hit a wall. BOOM!

When is this going to end?
When the story is over. The problem with that question is that I don't have the answer, and it's impossible to determine. Sometimes nothing will happen in the story for a few days, and other times, you'll be dealing with story every day. Also, the story will move forward based on what YOU and other players do. You guys are gonna turn the straightforward story that I'm writing into a monstrous plot-twisted clusterfreak. I have no clue what you're going to do which is part of the fun for me. This could take weeks or even months. I'm probably going to do things in 'chapters' to giver everyone a chance to catch up with the story, and for new people to sign up before the next one starts.

Ok, NOW I understand, and I like it. What can I do to help it go smoothly?
Well, if you're an emissary, PLEASE just remember your job. Keep people in character and settle disputes. If you're a player, STAY IN CHARACTER. Another way to REALLY help with this experiment is take screenshots of things that happen in game. SEND THEM TO ME. I've asked for a Demise Campaign Forum, and there are a few threads about this that I intend to start. One thread is going to be for me to write the continuing story based on what you all do. I will add your screenshots to the story so everyone can see and hopefully enjoy. I intend to do a 'Character Feedback' thread. This thread will be for you guys to post in to tell me what your characters think is going on in the story. This will help me know if I'm doing my job correctly, and will also hep me write a better story for you. I think there should be an ideas thread as well. If theres something that you would like to see happen in the story, you can post it, and I can try to write it in somehow if it fits the plot I have set up.

DAY 1 RECAP

The Shadows of Vartan visit the DRP Capitol building to discover something that they didn't expect. An etherial being that seems unable or unwilling to communicate.

Later The house has other visitors.

Illadin had visited as well, and possibly had made contact with the spirit. This is uncomfirmed. And to what end?

Ruiner later awakens and is suddenly startled by Mathias of the Shadows of Vartan. Shortly thereafter, Sirros shows up, and they begin to discuss the spirit that they had witnessed earlier. Ruiner, although having an uneasy feeling recently, seems utterly unconvinced by their story.

As the three congrigated on the front porch, a friend from the past returns to the fold. It was the old leader of the Shadow Cabal, Rijn. They talked for a while and yet another visitor appeared.

It was Illadin. And based on the conversation, he also believed that the Shadows story of a ghost was completely unbelievable.

The group continued to converse there for a while, sometimes about the ghost, and how Illadin wants to 'kill Dorian Flint'. Sirros' distrust of Illadin grows. As the gathering continued, Wolf Mother and Samuel showed up. Again this was mostly pleasentries, but Wolf Mother made the determination that the Capitol building was NOT haunted. She even used a quote from Poltergeist, "This house is clean."

Lastly, there was another person there all along. A girl named Shadow was hiding, and stealthing around there. Many of those present suspect and claimed that SHE was actually the ghost in question.

The Shadows Of Vartan deny those claims.

DAY 2 RECAP

Although Wrongway and Wolf Mother could not confirm its existence, rumors and sightings of this 'ghost' seem to be spreading and increasing. Illadin now admits to believing in it and even claims to have seen it. The Shadows original statements seem vindicated.

At this time there is insufficient information on the reason Three, Flint, and Thea Zara are involved in any of this, if thet are in fact involved at all. Perhaps we will find out eventually.

DAY 3 RECAP

A daemon was summoned on the porch of the DRP Capitol building by an unknown person. That person had created an altar with daemon blood and candles. Jiang'sazu was reported to have Banished it.

Zander and Wrongway had an encounter of their own, an unnamed Dark Elf on the steps of the DRP Capitol. The Elf spoke of destruction and all sorts of bad things, but was too vague for the two Seekers to gain any real knowledge.

The Seeker's Response
*Just waking up from a long night drinking trying to forget the past days events* *Grabs head and instantly regrets his night* Suddenly Wrongway remembers that he has another reason to have a headache.

It all started innocently enough. Wrongway went to the Wolf Village to talk to Wolf Mother. He had just arrived when the word came that there were four ancient wyrms preventing traffic from passing along the road. Wrongway had tangled with an Ancient Wyrm before and knew they were formidable opponents, but this was work for the Seekers of Fortune. The Seekers could not let the road remain blocked, for that would impede commerce. So Wrongway, along with his friend Two Wolves, and his new friend Sheepie headed for the crossroads to find these beasts. Two Wolves showed tremendous courage and lured one of the wyrms to the clearing where Wrongway and Sheepie were waiting with their bows ready. Calling on the forces of light they opened fire as the first Wyrm came into the clearing. Just before the might beast fell, it hit Wrongway with a dose of deadly poison sending him into the spirit world.

While Two Wolves and Sheepie worked on skinning the great beast, Wrongway headed for the healer. There he encountered another spirit, a good spirit, a spirit that spoke to him from beyond the grave. Assuming that this good spirit would follow him to the healer and be reunited with her body, Wrongway rushed on to the healer and returned to the fight. The sweet voice of this restless spirit kept ringing in his ears, however, and after helping Two Wolves and Sheepie slay the second Wyrm, Wrongway had made up his mind. He took his pack and handed it to Sheepie, took off his gorget and asked Two Wolves to take his knife and send him back to the spirit world. Two Wolves protested, but when he saw the determination in Wrongway's eyes, he did as he asked, spilling his blood on the grass of the clearing.

Wrongway didn't take long to find the wandering spirit, and began to talk to it. Not understanding why the spirit did not seek out the help of the healers, Wrongway encouraged the spirit to follow him to the healer. The good spirit informed Wrongway that the healers could not see her spirit and could not help her. Unwilling to give up on this good spirit, Wrongway insisted that she come back with him and let him try to reunite her with her body. She gave Wrongway a warning telling him he was in danger, and to protect his friends. Thinking she was talking about the Wyrms that were marauding on the road, he said that he would and continued to try to help this good spirit. At her urgent insistance he returned to the world of the living and to his friends who were getting worried by his long absence.

He did not forget this spirit, however, and she followed him throughout much of the evening. After the threesome finished off the wyrms, a dark elf suddenly appeared and appeared to take a dislike to this good spirit who seemed to cross over into the worldy plan intermittently.

Wolf Mother arrived on the scene shortly there after, and efforts began to try and reunite this good spirit with her body. The spirit followed them to a church, but it was determined that it might not be appropriate to perform the ritual there, so Wolf Mother suggested we go to the shrine in the desert. Assuming a formation Wolf Mother, Wrongway, and Sheepie forged deep into the desert. The deeper we got into the desert the more dangerous it got. As they neared the shrine Wrongway waded into the middle of a large group of Sand Vortexes. Applying bandages non-stop, he saw that he was beginning to sustain more damage than he could heal. Realizing that the end was coming, he tried to lure the sand vortexes away from his friends to try and give them a chance to make it to the shrine. He almost made it back to the edge of the desert when the vortexes finally overcame him. Just before he died once again, he sent out a request to his allies for aid.

Meanwhile back at the shrine, Wrongway returned to the shrine to find all of his friends dead and dying repeatedly by the onslaught of the vortexes. After a few tries, he finally managed to evade the vortexes long enough to return to his body and collect his affects. Knowing his friends were still in trouble, he waded back into the fight trying to reach them at the shrine. Fortunately for Wrongway, re-inforcements had arrived. Meeting Sirros on the edge of the desert after dying once again, Wrongway cheated the spirit world one last time and returned to the living. Sirros went in to save a few last people, and everyone finally made it out of the desert.

Greatly disturbed by the wandering spirit, Wrongway met with Samuel to discuss some business, but quickly retired to his home where he settled down for the night with a case of ale, saddly... alone.

This is the report of Wrongway, Guildmaster of the Seekers of Fortune as related to Bjorg.

DAY 4 RECAP

You guys wrote your versions so well, I'm only going to summarize the whole thing. (from nobodys point of view)

Four Ancient Wyrms were discovered on the road directly southeast of the Wolf Village. Wrongway, Two Wolves, and Sheepie went to meet the beasts head on. In the process a ghost made her presence known to Wrongway. After having himself killed to meet her on her plane, she gave him warnings of impending doom and that the Dread Father is rising, and the only way for their way of life to survive is to band together and protect one another.

It was decided that a church was needed for this spirit to return to the physical plane. Wolf Mother opened a gate to the Kingdom of Bretonnia where their church could be used for spiritual energy. The spirit refused. She has been watching us and our ways for a very long time and felt it disrespectful to go against Bretonnian law and have another use magic in her aide. Another spiritual location had to be decided on.

Sheepie suggested the church that stood next to her home in the Projects Of Compassion. She gave Wolf Mother a rune and they traveled to this place. After a bit of discussion, Wolf Mother decided that it would most likely be best to use the power of the ankh in the desert to complete the task. All seemed to agree and they went out of the sanctuary doors one by one.

Once the party had entered the desert, the sand seemed to rise up against them as the giant scorpions continiously infected out heroes with their sting. It quickly became too much for any of them to handle. They all fell. THeir original idea to use the ankh to revive this spirit became their saving grace. they used it to return themselves to life. Over and over again the sand vortexes would punish those who would revive themselves using the ankh. An Earth Elemental also laid claim to the small oasis and pummeled anyone who would get close. Most of the time, it was Sheepie.

Help was, however on the way. Zander showed up and quickly fell into the same trap as the others. In no particular order, three others showed up to attempt a rescue, and they had suceeded. Samuel, Shepherd, and Sirros began to fight and lead as many of the monsters away from the desert so the people within could retain their items and escape.

Two Wolves escorted the Wolf Mother back home, and everyone left the scene with their lives intact. All but the spirit, who remained in the sanctuary with a profound sense of lonliness and guilt over the carnage that she had caused.

Day 5

Samuel had come to this church, from the outskirts of the desert.

He had decided to take a rest inside the church, allowing for his horse to rest after the long run that they had patrolling their routes.

Samuel did not realize this was the place that Wrongway had told him about.

Samuel walked up to a bench and took a seat, he bowed his head and began a short prayer.

He heard some rustling behind him, turned and looked around, he looked to the balcony, shrugged and bowed his head...

Only to see two feet where his eyes layed rest!

Samuel leaped out of the bench and scattered backwards until his back was against the wall.

He looked at the spirit as it got closer. He was a little frightened, the spirit had snuck up on him, he was not prepared.

He asked the spirit what it wanted... At first, samuel thought he had heard the wind, but when he listened closer the wind turned into a whisper, and the whisper began speaking in his ear.

The spirit calmed Samuel, telling him not to be afraid.

Samuel trusted this spirit for some reason, and relaxed a little.

Samuel asked what the spirit wanted, and the spirit told him she was trapped in the spirit realm and that she was elven.

Samuel mentioned something about humans and the spirit was suddenly reminded of why she had shown herself to Sam. She warned him that his race was in danger. That the Dark father was coming to destroy the humans.

Samuel was skeptical, and began asking questions.

He asked when the dark father, or otherwise known as the dark lord, or the one, will come.

She told him that he was already here.

He asked if there was others trapped like her, and she told him only the dark lord.

She told him once he finds his ancient grounds that he will grow more powerful until he can be brought back into the living world.

Samuel wondered if this spirit could be brought back also, and she said she thinks she can be.

He asked of her name, it was Arvanna or Golden Forest in human tounge.

Sam asked her if he could try bringing her back with his holy words. She agreed but told him she was afraid.

He tried...

"Holy father, help me in bringing this spirit back to the living world. Help me help this spirit. Drain my powers, drain everything to the point where nothing else can be taken. Take my energies and give it to this spirit known as Golden Forest, or Arvanna. Bring her back from the spirit realm and let her live again."

He then began the chant, which was just not powerful enough. He tried many times, but there was just not enough power.

He told her not to give up, that he thinks all that is needed is more power.

He told her that he will gather up some more followers of the light and they will combine their powers and bring her back to the living world.

He told her he would be back and told her not to leave the spirit world.

He left then and began his search for other followers of the light.

Wanted for Murder:
Illadin
Rijn of the Shadow Cabal
Thea Zara

These three individuals violated the hospitality of the Seekers of Fortune, and murdered the host and all of the guests at our Dog Days Celebration. This is clearly in violation of the laws of the land and our code. They are wanted to be placed on trial for these crimes.

Great and terrible deeds were done this night. Party games were played and party favors collected. A resurrection was thwarted. A holy church has been subverted to our cause; its mighty protector Shepherd trapped, his will now mine.

Breath easy my brethren and rejoice, for HE is returning.

Official Cabal stance
It is the standing of the Cabal that the associate known as Rijn acted on his own in a capacity of his chosen proffesion, that of an assassin for hire. It saddens the Cabal as a whole over such events but it is out of our hands as individuals within our House do freelance from time to time. Due to the sensitivity of this obviously troubling time we would like to send our regards to the poor souls caught in the crossfire of what was without a doubt a simple target removal gone horribly wrong. Until such time as tensions cease the Cabal as a whole will be considered in a holding state of potential conflict. As such its embassies will be closed and off limits and the Isle of Fire, our ancestral home , will be considered off limits to others. Trespassers will be considered enemy scouts and dealt with accordingly. Regardless for all intents and purposes we remain neutral.

Britain is now almost totally cut off and only accessible by sneaking in from the North through the woods by the graveyard. If Western Britain falls as well, Banking and Law Enforcement in all of Britain will be curtailed. Britain could become a safe haven for wanted criminals like Rijn and the rest.

I approached DRP house in which Two Wolves, Sheepie and Ruiner demanded I turn myself in. I refused and they attacked. I circled the building hoping to separate a few of them. It worked for a moment, giving me time to formulate a strategy... Two Wolves was seen as the largest threat and I retaliated against him first. I chased him about for a while while he attempted, but failed to bring me down with arrows... Growing bored of his attacks I poisoned him and let him run. While he was presumable healing I went to deal with Sheepie. She took a shot at me which I deflected, then I swiftly cut her down. Two Wolves Returned to the fight, only to be seriously injured again. He ran away into the woods where he died moments later, strangled by my Father's blessing. Since Ruiner did not raise his hand against me I would have let him live... But he chose to insult me instead, in which I sent my pet Blackrazor to rend his flesh from his bone. After this it was only I and Rijn still standing as the ghosts of the fallen drifted about the DRP house.

Me and Rijn went to Fell's Hold and made some small talk exchanging words among other things. He then departed and I met with Thea. We also talked for a while and went our own ways.

signed, Illadin Commander of Invading Hordes

Rijn has turned himself in voluntarily, to be tried for murder. Illadin has escaped capture two times. Thea is holding the holy man Shepherd prisoner in his own church building (that has lost its sanctity, being desecrated by the three). The church is located on the outskirts of the Desert of Compassion. Passersby are advised to use caution, keep an eye out for Thea Zera and bring relief for Shepherd in the form of company and some food if you can spare it; till we can secure his release, capture the cultists and reconsecrate the church.

The wayward ghost, Arvanna is finally restored to life. The champion of evil, Illadin is captured by Night Wolf and held for trial for murder. Clues are starting to come together to save the spirit of Arvanna's father who did battle with the Dark Lord in ancient times. But the Dark Lord moves over the mind of the recently revived elf maid leading to the unwitting An Corp of the spirit Twilight instead of her father.

The Dark Lord Morax emerges and raises his fortress, New Darkwood in the place where the DRP guild house once stood. With this and the assassination of Ruiner the former guild leader, the old order is completely swept away and a new is put in its place.

Now as the Wolf Clan strikes back with a lighting raid against the Over Lord in his own palace, he has raised an army of Undead Generals and orders them to hunt Wolf Clan people. Now the war is on. The Laws of the Land are being systematically replaced by Diabolical Edicts pronounced by Morax and enforced by the keepers of the dead.

The reward for information leading to the Capture of the Wolf Clan outlaws now stands at 10,000 Gold.

These people should be captured immediatly and presented to Illadin the current head of police. A reward will be given to any one that captures any of these people. Anyone found consorting with these individuals will be also become wanted for questioning for associating with a criminal.

We must mantain law and order even in spite of the new leadership or else we will descend into anarchy.

Engles returners to his Emissary position representing Wolf Clan and is sent on a mission to obtain a peace treaty between Wolf Clan and Undead in the meeting halls high atop Darkwood.

Negotiations are a success. All murder charges are dropped and Wolf Clan agrees to pay heavy tribute fines to Morax in the form of spined leathers.

Undead spread out to enforce their new laws and tribute taxes throughout the land in all but a few free regions still held by Defenders of Britain.

The Demise Roleplayers Alliance has split off Demise Roleplayers Evil Alliance, lead by Undead [UND] and recently allied with the demise branch of Bloodclan Orcs [Orc]. Dark Elves are also being sought for this new evil alliance.
