"Twilight Descends" Demise Campaign Official Rules & Information
"Twilight Decends" is a roleplaying campaign that will take place in the setting of Ultima Online that has been created since the DRP's creation in February.
Guilds and players have come and gone, but a social and governmental climate, organically created by its members has endured beyond expectations. Someone does something wrong, they are hunted in some form of another, and brought to trial based on our own civilized law. Players and characters take it upon themselves to create events for everyone to enjoy. Certain members of the DRP are known and respected by others for helping out regularly. The DRP has grown to be all over the map, from the Northwestern reaches of Yew where the Guardians of Sosaria, Guardsmen of Yew, Wolf Clan and The Kingdom Of Bretonnia reside, to the Southeastern Vesper area where the DRP Capitol sits, and an ancient evil elvish race is being reborn. Not to mention the little populated area near the Desert of Compassion and the Swamp of Desolation. This 'civilization' has come far in its short lifespan. Its time to reward its members for their dedication and fortitude, and 'cash in' on its success with a big all inclusive roleplaying event.
How do I sign up my character or guild?
How to Join, join demise roleplayers alliance.
CLICK HERE and post in this thread.
(rpring members)I'll be sending you a private massage to discuss your personal role in the story.
Ok, I've signed up. Now what is expected of me, and where do I fit in?
Log into the Demise shard and play the character that you had signed up with. If you've volunteered your home for use in the campaign, at some point I'm going to be asking about that privately. If you've signed up your guild, make sure that they are open to this whole thing, and ready to go. Nothing really is required of you that you're not already doing. PLAY YOUR CHARACTER, and do what they would do when they face a situation. (This includes Ruiner, who will ALSO be IN character from here on out.)
I WILL NEVER ask you to do something that your character wouldn't normally do. (One of my NPC's might, but that's IN game) How it's going to work is this, I'll use NPC's and other methods to give you clues, ideas, and other cryptic information. What you do with that information is COMPLETELY up to you. In one way or another, I will show you proverbial doors, and it is up to you to walk through them. Sometimes you'll have to figure out HOW to walk through them. What you decide will effect how the story progresses. Indecision, or inactivaty will ALSO effect the outcome. I do ask one thing from you, however that you DON'T normally do. PLEASE keep in touch with me either in game or on here VIA Private message. When you make a decision or a plan with your character or guild, I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT IT ahead of time so I can write it into the story.
If you have done something with your character that could possibly involve the story, I need to know about it. This action, idea, or decision of yours COULD POSSIBLY effect some other character on the other side of the shard, and I need to factor that in. If you don't let me know what your plans are, this big experiment is doomed to failure. If you do this for me, it could become a lot of fun.
On the list, why does it say (Waiting For Feedback) next to my name?
Because I don't have enough information about your character or guild to write them into the story. I've either sent you a message, and you have not responded, or for some other reason, I need more information from you. I have not yet written you into the story, but the moment you give me more info, I will.
I was thinking about signing up, but I havn't yet for one reason or another.
The sign up page will never be locked so you can wait and see how it's going before signing up. Fair warning though, the sooner you sign up with your character or guild, most likely the more important your character or guild will be to the story. But its still very possible to become an important part of the campaign.
This is stupid. I want no part of this.
Why are you in a roleplaying alliance? Seriously, If you decide NOT to sign up, your character or guild will NOT be written into the story and will not be an important factor. I cannot promise that you won't get caught in the crossfire. There's going to be a lot of PvP situations, and theres a very good chance that you're going to end up involved in a skirmish in one way or another. Sorry about that. (Sosarian laws still apply, you may file charges if you wish)
I have my own events that I want to start! How will this effect it and vice versa?
Two Wolves has his 'Battle For Britain' that he's been working on, and Sirros has been thinking about doing a 'Recruitment Fair' for a little while now. To be clear, these events can only help the campaign move forward. These things will encourage character interaction, and HOPEFULLY strict roleplaying. If everyones stays in character, I can even write the events into the story if I know about them in advance. Bjorg has a little event that he's been interested in getting together. IT WILL be a part of the story, and I hope the campaign helps his event be more successful.
When is this going to start?
Within the next few days. I have to warn you though. It's not going to be "BOOM! ACTION!" It's going to subtlety and slowly build with a couple characters noticing something odd out of the corner of their eye or a cryptic clue here and there. The more these kinds of things are noticed, and the more those players react, the more noticeable the story and the scenario will become until eventually everyone has had some sort of experience. more things will happen and those things will lead to bigger things. Things will have a snowball effect. Eventually that snowball will hit a wall. BOOM!
When is this going to end?
When the story is over. The problem with that question is that I don't have the answer, and it's impossible to determine. Sometimes nothing will happen in the story for a few days, and other times, you'll be dealing with story every day. Also, the story will move forward based on what YOU and other players do. You guys are gonna turn the straightforward story that I'm writing into a monstrous plot-twisted clusterfreak. I have no clue what you're going to do which is part of the fun for me. This could take weeks or even months. I'm probably going to do things in 'chapters' to giver everyone a chance to catch up with the story, and for new people to sign up before the next one starts.
Ok, NOW I understand, and I like it. What can I do to help it go smoothly?
Well, if you're an emissary, PLEASE just remember your job. Keep people in character and settle disputes. If you're a player, STAY IN CHARACTER. Another way to REALLY help with this experiment is take screenshots of things that happen in game. SEND THEM TO ME. I've asked for a Demise Campaign Forum, and there are a few threads about this that I intend to start. One thread is going to be for me to write the continuing story based on what you all do. I will add your screenshots to the story so everyone can see and hopefully enjoy. I intend to do a 'Character Feedback' thread. This thread will be for you guys to post in to tell me what your characters think is going on in the story. This will help me know if I'm doing my job correctly, and will also hep me write a better story for you. I think there should be an ideas thread as well. If theres something that you would like to see happen in the story, you can post it, and I can try to write it in somehow if it fits the plot I have set up.
