Spellweaving & Quests

Morning all

I recently did the spell weaving quest for the book, and am currently busy with Summon Fiends quest.

My question is: If I party with someone, and they kill the required creatures, will my char get the tally towards his quest, if
a) only he has the quest, or b) both chars have the quest?

I'll end up testing this later to see, but if anyone already knows it would save me the time and trouble farming the items (ears, whip) over.

Update:
Doesn't work if 2 chars are on the same quest in a party, in different zones or the same zone. Only 1 char gets the tally.
