PvP EVENT INFORMATION

INTRODUCTION
PvP events are events noted for being Player versus Player. Demise houses an automatic PvP event system which allows for faster, more reliable tournaments with true randomization of teams and tournament bracket creation. Not all PvP events are automated; however, when a PvP event is manually hosted, the event staff ensure fairness at all costs.

In addition to understanding the rules of each event, one must remember that some events that are not stated as being in the PvP category may actually end up housing some PvP action. For example, a scavenger hunt may be hosted and the selected facet is Felucca. Also, story lines may also pull players into Felucca which opens up the opportunity for PvP during the event.

PvP tournaments are normally hosted spontaneously; however, because of the automated nature of the event system, a wider range of time zones can be accommodated. A Seer may choose to host a series of events and give notice on the Demise forums for the events but standard practice is to host the events spontaneously.

Below is a list of events categorized as being primarily PvP. Following the list, is information about registering for tournaments and understanding the modifications that players may be presented with during a tournament.

--------------------------------
PvP Tournament (1v1, 2v2, etc)
Capture the Flag (CTF)
Bombing Run (BRun)
Double Domination (DDom)
Free for All
PvE Dungeon Dash
--------------------------------

REGISTRATION
The automated tournament system requires individuals to sign up using a registration book. As the player enters the event area or the Event Hall where he or she will see the available event and the registration book for the event.

To sign up for the event, double click the tournament registration book. A menu will appear presenting you with information about the event and asking if you would like to join. If you wish to participate, check the "yes" box and click the green "okay" button.

GENERAL EVENT RULES
In most cases, your insurance money will not be taken from your bank box upon death nor will you be rewarded with someone else's insurance money if you kill them. Each event is specific on whether or not resources are used (arrors, bandages, regs, etc).

Please remember, do not spam or make trades/sales in the event areas.

NPC bankers and other vendors are made available in most of the event areas.

UNDERSTANDING MODIFICATIONS
The tournament system has a default setting that regulates what spells, skills, equipment, and items are allowed. These settings can be modified, but first, clarification must be made as to what the default settings are:

Spells: Disabled spells are effect spells, summons, field spells, paralyze, magic reflect, invisibility, mark/recall, and resurrection.

Chivalry: All chivalry abilities are enabled excluding enemy of one, noble sacrifice, and sacred journey.

Bushido: All bushido abilities are enabled.

Ninjitsu: The only ninjitsu abilities that are permitted are death strike, focus attack, and ki attack.

Combat Abilities: The only combat abilities that are disabled are paralyzing blow and shadow strike.

Skills: Skills enabled are anatomy, evaluating intelligence, poisoning, and spirit speak.

Weapons: Any weapon can be used provided it is not poisoned.

Armor: There are no restrictions on armor.

Items: Items like bandages are permitted; however, orange petals, shurikens, and fukiya darts are not.

Potions: The only potion enabled is refresh potions.

These default settings were designed to combine both the updated state of combat today and traditional dueling settings for a balanced event. While this may be true of the default settings, modifications can be made which change the default rules of the tournament.

Any modification made to the default settings above will show on the registration gump. If no modifications are shown on the registration gump, the player can assume the tournament is standard with no changes to the default restrictions.

INSURANCE AND LOSS OF ITEMS
The automated system takes consideration to insurance and items on the player; however, this does not mean that a person should go into the tournament and cancel all insurance. The code can error and items can be lost even if it is not common. Always error on the side of safety.

A direct statement is to please not kill yourself in the event area. The PvP event areas are in Felucca which means upon death your items become available to all others excluding the items that are blessed or insured. One may think that they are in an event area so they cannot lose anything; however, unless you are specifically fighting IN the event, you are nothing more than a spectator in Felucca. Because others cannot attack you due to the tournament code, this means death can only come if you kill yourself or have your pet kill you.
