Poker Tournament (2.1mil Buy-in)

This tournament will take place on Wednesday, November 27th and BEGIN at 7:00pm Eastern!
Sign-ups will start at 6:30pm EST!! The gate to the tournament area will be in front of the Cove Poker Boat.

This will hopefully be the first of many Poker Tournaments I will be hosting!

It will be a 30 Player Max, 6-handed game with a
2,000,000gp + 100,000gp Buy-in and 20 minute blind levels

How it works:
Players come to the tournament arena on their characters with an empty bank box that contains only the 2.1mil Buy-in. The first 30 players to enter the tournament area that meet the empty bank box/backpack requirement will be allowed entry. After the 30 players are determined or the sign-up time ends, I will collect the 2mil out of each of their bank boxes. The remaining 100k will be your tournament chips. Like in any poker tournament, if you lose those chips you are out! Every 20 minutes the Blinds will increase according to the chart below. Only the top 3 finishers will be paid. The extra 100k will NOT count towards the prize pool, making the max prize pool for this tournament 60mil gold.

Rules (READ CAREFULLY!!):

• No Multi-clienting!!! Anyone seen on 2 or more characters will forfeit their buy-in and be banished from any further poker tournaments.
• You’re character MUST have an EMPTY bank box with ONLY your buy-in, and a relatively empty backpack, as shown in the image below. (please keep the 100k separate from the 2mil)
• 
• If you have more than the buy-in amount on your person or in your bank you will not be allowed to enter.

1st- 50% of prize pool and championship bracelet
2nd- 30% of prize pool
3rd- 20% of prize pool

I like the idea...

BUT

There are things seriously flawed with UOG-Hybrid's poker system. And I'm not even going to get into how easy it is for players to collude (GMs have absolutely no way to prevent cheating).

It's impossible to play position here, because the first player to act changes on every street, and playing position is very important in a tournament. There has been several times when I'm playing on the button, yet for some reason I'm the first player to act, taking away my ability to make the same play I was making on the previous street. I've been forced to fold some hands that I otherwise would have played differently if only my turn to act had been as it should be.

The dealer always "rabbit hunts", even after all players have folded out of the hand. Which is never allowed in any casino, nor any sanctioned tournament, and even rarely at the private games I play.

I would like to play, but I really don't find it worth playing a tourney with 29 other players (at least 15-20 of which are most likely using TeamSpeak or Ventrillo) on a flawed poker table. Yes, they are 6-seaters, which could decrease the chances of cheaters being on the same table, but doesn't make it impossible.

And when first place can pay up to 30mil there's is a big reason for people to cheat.


Don't get me wrong though. I like the idea Noah. But lets make it a heads up tournament. You can't collude as easily that way. And even if you give your buddy your gold to give him a bigger stack, you are paying a considerable amount more for the same prize.

Did you notice your blind table has amounts that exceed the total number of gold in play?

Force people to pick something up off the ground while you watch them do it, before you allow them inside the toruney arena. You know someone if planning to have a 5mill check on their cursor to drop into their main pack when they get inside.

Also, delete the banker npc from the arena just incase.

Collusion is definitely a big problem in UO Poker but like you said, there is no way to stop it. It takes place on every UO poker table. That being said, to some people, joining a tournament like this will be a welcome alternative to joining a high rollers table and being "teamed" on there.

I love the idea of a heads-up tournament. One will undoubtedly take place in the near future

Blind Structure:

If you have 100k to play with, and there is a max of 30 players in the game, 100k*30=3mill. How would anyone pay the large blind when we get to the 9th level if there is only 3mill total in play? That is based on the assumption that taxes will be turned off on the table.

I admit that I could be having a stupidity leak right now, just tell me if I'm wrong and I'll move on. Thanks in advance.

The gate will be closed after 30 people go through. Sign-ups are first come first serve, and the people with clean bank/backpacks and their buy-in checks ready will have priority.

Don't sweat it if you can't make this tournament, there will be more to come.

1st place: Miss In-Sider who took home 22mil and the bracelet
2nd place: Novartis 13.2mil
3rd place: Nugget Jr. 8.8mil

Good event Noah, ty for being active, and figuring out how to keep the shard popping brother. Im not a huge poker player, but i logged on for the event regardless. I like u and some others are being "active" and "creative". Wanted to say that, since we have some ungrateful bastards on the shard that always wanna bitch. I've been here a long time, and trust me I've seen ALOT of people come and go. But just you, Chubbs, Saritoga, Francis, and others are doing the right thing...... To be active on the shard, means the player base will be active too.... Unless they're the Del Pond hugging losers waiting for a handout... And let's face it, that doesn't equal out to an active shard.
