This may not be the best way to make cash, and I don't know how much you're looking to make, but this is a way I've been doing it. (I've been playing on the verge of two and a half weeks at a moderate pace).
Make a miner with 50 magery. You can have GM mining in one day. Easy. I sold iron ingots for 7gp each, or 6gp when desperate. When I got my first pay load, I bought about 300 bloodmoss and nightshade, an invisibility scroll for my spell book. Pretty sure this should get you past 70 magery. You now have a character that can gate and mark runes. Get clever on how to find more and faster ways to mine. also, escort NPCs. second character, make on a second account. make it a mage. you can now escort 2 NPCs every 5 minutes.
this is a safe and easy way to make money. it is also boring. but, I now have serveral 7xGM characters... alchy mage, tank mage, dexxer, that I can have fun with. (though, I'm currently working on my second scheme to make the big bucks... hopefully it pans out, cuz i'd really like a house)
so, I guess big moral is. sweat out some time in the beginning to make money, then have good times later.

you can make decent and safe money using green thorns. buy em for 800 gp, kill the bunny and get 1400gp + magic armor (invuln seems pretty common) and magic weapons up to power. great loot plus tons of gardens in ton so no worry of being pked.

Escourting is good you make about 500-999 gold each NPC and i just use one char (Gater) to bring chars on my other accts around with 2 rune books full of every rune i need.

here is what I do:
simply same as the dude post above.
1st) I make a miner on the first day and keep mining, yes gm in 1 day. Sell at 7gp each, lowest I sold is 5g per.
But I found this method suck after 1 day. there are TOO MANY PKS who love ingots. I can be pked in every cave I go.
2nd) used the profit from ingots to make a char that can gate and start escorting npc. There are many ppl still using this way to make money nowadays, as its SUPER SAFE. But u have to make 2 of them at least, coz its VERY BORING within that 5 mins.
3rd) I changed my mage into a warrior with parrying and start hunting cyclops & titan. I would say they are the most easiest things to hunt in hybird for a warrior and give large amount of profit. 5xx - 9xx gold with magical weapons and armors (VQ & invulerable also).
But the same problem comes....TOO MANY PKS and they come in grp. I usually managed to kill 3 - 4 titans and they comes...EVERYTIME and a MUST. Everytime with different names so that I really curious IS THERE REALLY SO MANY PKS?!!!
well not to say a grp, its hard to deal with a single pk when u are already fighting a titan with a warrior. But I need to say, titan and cyclops really give a lot of gold if u can hunt them for a long time.
sth I need to mention, u can try lich lord in deceit, yes in deceit, if u have a silver weapon. For some reason I dunno why, they are full spawned in there and no one seems trying to hunt them. I hunted them for a 3 hrs about without even being disturbed by a mosquito. However they give lesser gold
4th and the latest) I am making a tinkering/carpentry worker and trying to sell empty keg. I observed few weeks at britain bank and found that there is a constant demand for them, each goes for 800g around. And yes, that is my target.
