GM Smithing? Easy as tailoring?

Is smithing quite easy like tailoring?

Fairly. You can probably GM it in about 1.5-2*s the amount of time of tailoring (just due to mining/smelting)

Ive got 65 blacksmith and ive used about 2.5k Ingots. Was told you can GM with 15k but that doesnt seem realistic. I am making short spears and they seem to gain quite well but what did GM Smithers do?

yup, keep doing short spears until 70 then switch to gorgets until GM.
