Final Regression

Final Regression

Final Regression

The Story:
The sun slowly rolled across the land, bringing a new morning with it. The citizens of Britannia had just celebrated the anniversary of slaying the evil Lord Blackthorn the night before. The celebrations had lasted until early in the morning and almost everyone was sleeping in today. There were just a few men and women awake, and with good reason to be alive and alert. Among the men awake was the Commander of Britannia, the man the king had left in charge right before he left into the void, never to return. He sat at the throne among some of his most trusted friends and advisors. There was talk of a man that had made his way to Trinsic, and had taken over the town and declared that he was Lord British, and that he had returned to rule Britannia once more. The commander knew this man was an imposter, and that the real king could never return from the void. He quickly moved to strike down this imposter before he did any damage but it was too late. The entire royal guard and local leaders of trinsic declared their loyalty to this man, believing him to be the true king, as he looks, acts, and knows everything only the king and his closest advisors would know. The man also possessed some of the shards, to prove that he was the king. This set into motion a big change in the world. An uprising has started, slowly splitting the loyalty of britannia in half. The commander and his men had to act fast before the world came alive and started to actually believe that this man was the real king.

As they were debating as to what they should do, messengers started to arrive. The first messenger heard was from the town of Skara Brae, announcing that the royal guard had left the city defenseless and traveled to join the ranks in Trinsic. “They have all deserted the town and declared loyalty to that imposter?” said the commander. The messenger nodded and said, “Yes my lord, and from what I hear from the other messengers, several other royal guard units have left their towns and gone to trinsic as well.”

The messengers filed in one by one, announcing the town they were from, and giving the same news that the royal guard had left for trinsic. After the last messenger was heard, the royal guard for the towns of Skara Brae, Jhelom, Serphents Hold, and Occlo had all joined forces in trinsic. It appeared as if this man that claimed to be the king was assembling the guards to defend the town of Trinsic and raise an army to wage war against the commander that had declared him an imposter.

By this time people across the lands had awoken and learned of what was going on. The town criers in each town had been spreading the word quickly. People were starting to gather outside of the castle, wanting the commander to address them and give news of what exactly was happening and what course of action would be taken. As the commander stepped out before the crowd to begin a speech, royal guards from other towns began to show up, declaring that they would defend Britain from this imposter and smother the rebellion. The royal guards from Yew, Cove, Vesper, Minoc, Nujelm, and Moonglow had all assembled in Britain, which left the towns defenseless. It was speculated that soon, the citizens would start to take sides.

Later in the day another messenger arrived, this time he brought news from both Papua and Delucia, the cities of the lost lands. In the message it stated that the towns of Delucia and Papua wished to remain neutral in the matter, and have split away and started to rule themselves. With the two major forces quickly consuming the forces of each of the other towns, it was clear that Delucia and Papua would be constantly fought over by the two groups.

The day went on and soon turned into night. As the torches were being lit around the city of Britain, town criers began to announce news that the man in Trinsic claiming to be king announced that all murderers, thieves, and rogues of the land would be cleared and cleansed of their sins if they come to trinsic and fight for him. The majority of the bandits have joined up with him in Trinsic.

Over the next few days people began joining sides, some coming to Britain, others to Trinsic, leaving all of the other towns in the world abandoned. This severely disrupted the balance of the world and people soon found that the public moongates would not take them to the lands of Felucca, Malas, or Ilshenar and the mages of the world also found that they no longer had the power to open gates or recall to these lands as well. It seemed that anyone or anything in those facets were forever lost until the balance of power is restored. People also discovered that they were unable to gate or recall directly into the cities as well, and had to recall or gate to the edge of town and then go in. The balance of power was so far tipped that it restricted where people could go with magic.

Within a week everyone had made their way to either Britain or Trinsic. Everyone was involved in a side, there was no one left to be neutral. The force under the commander in Britain was known as the Order of the Sperhents, and the force under the man claiming to be king was known as the Knights of Coercion. From there the struggle began, and it was known as the Final Regression.

Shard setup:

Starting items are 1k of each item “regs, aids, cloth, leather, ect”, and 50k gold. If at all possible make it to where they cannot delete their characters and may only have 1 account, or else you’ll have people just creating characters and accounts for the free money and resources.

The shard can either be AoS or pre-publish 13, or a mix, it’s all up to you. I would suggest having only 2 lands open to the public, and that would be trammel and the lost lands. This provides places for housing and hunting, but keeps everyone together. I suggest the trammel ruleset because there will already be fighting between the 2 sides, so this prevents people on the same side from killing each other. Only spawn the town npc’s in Britain, Trinsic, Papua, and Delucia, the rest of the towns will be empty and will not be used. The rest of the shard will be spawned normally. Also dis-allow recalling or gating into the cities, people will have to recall or gate to the edge of the city and then go into it.

If possible I encourage tearing some of the less usefull buildings down in britain and trinsic and building new strong holds for the 2 groups to mainly work out of. This is where the sigils will be stored, but if you do not want to edit the towns, you can always pick your own spot for where the sigils will be stored.

You could say this is an advanced form of factions. I believe it is and mostly everything used by these 2 sides will be faction related with the exception that faction weapons and armour will not exist. Guilds will also be available in this shard, just like normal shards, and they will act just like guilds in regular factions do.

Upon joining the shard you starte in a room with a skillgate where you will pick your permanent skills for that character, as there will be no skillgain within the game. After choosing your skills you will go into another gate where you will choose which side you want to join, “all 5 characters in the account do not have to all be on the same side, but it will be mandatory to choose a side, reguardless of character template.” There should be a limit though as to how much bigger 1 side can get over the other. So you’ll need to decide how much bigger 1 can get over the other, so if that limit is reached, the player is forced to join the other side. Once the character has chosen which side it wants to be on, it will then be transported to the main city base for the side that they choose. So say they joined the Order of the Serphents, they would start out in Britain. If they joined the Knights of Coercion they would start in Trinsic.

The object of this all would be fighting for control of each other’s town, and also the control of the 2 towns in the lost lands. Each side starts out with control of it’s own town, and the Order of the Serphents will have Papua, while the Knights of Coercion will have Delucia. Having control of a town will enable you to set prices, place vendors, and place guards. You never have to re-corrupt the town unless it’s sigil is stolen by the enemy and kept at their base on their sigil stone for 12 hours. If they do steal the sigil and corrupt it, they have the power to regulate prices in your town from their base, however they must physically come to the town in order to place any guards. In order to get your town back you must steal back the sigil and keep it for 12 hours. It is very possible for 1 side to gain control of all towns and hurt the opposing side with insanely high prices, so both sides need to keep on their toes. There will always of course be the player run vendors positioned at a player’s house.

Every 5 days there will be an election for a commander on each side, which can be voted on by all members. The extra duties for the commander aside from leading his army, is controlling prices, placing guards and vendors, and selecting a sherrif for each town. As a sherrif you are in charge of placing guards throughout the city you preside over.

This is the basic run down for Final Regression which has been drafted and fully planned-out by Raven Lockehart. Anyone is welcome to create a shard like this, but please remember to give credit in return.
