Everything BOD for smiths and tailors!

I noticed this question coming up a lot as decided to write a guide on how to get BODs and everything that accompanies the subject.

To tell you where we're going we must talk about where we've been. BODs were put in the game to help new smiths with gaining skill, earning gold, and getting cool rewards. People had a hard time knowing what to make at what levels, and BODs helped them figure it out. You as a smith/tailor are being hired by the local blacksmiths/tailors to fill out orders for them that they are too busy to do themselves. In turn, they give you a hunk of gold, a 'sweet' reward, and you become a little more famous.

What is a BOD?
BOD stands for Bulk Order Deed. It is the piece of paper that the smith/tailors gives you that has his order on it. Once completed, you hand the paper back to any smith and you get your reward.

What kind of stuff can I get?

Well you get some gold, harder BODs can give you upwards to 10k! Some fame/karma, yay... But what everyone is in it for are the rewards. Rewards are completely different for smiths and tailors. Smiths can get anything from extra shovels to magic hammers to make magic weapons and tailors can get anything from unique colored cloth to clothing bless deeds, so you can never lose that awesome colored sash!

So, how do you get a BOD?

Well, in order for the smiths/tailors to give you and order. You need to do some prior business with them. They need to know you are a smith/tailor. So just sell the smith or tailor vendor blacksmithy/tailoring items until they offer you a deed. Once they offer it to you, hit the accept button and you'll receive a green/grey colored scroll in your backpack. But remember, smiths and tailors don't always need your help, so you can only get one every 3 hours.Hint: The easiest way for smiths is to sell them blacksmithing hammers, once you're all out, buy them all back. For tailors, do the same thing but with sewing kits.

What do I do with the BOD?

If you double click the BOD it will tell you to make, either, a bunch of one item or a long list of a bunch of different items. We'll talk about the 'small' one first.

What's a small BOD?

A small bulk order deed asks you to make either 10, 15, or 20 of a single item. It might ask for it in different types or metal or leather, but it will all be the same item. Once you make the item, you double-click the BOD and there will be a 'fill' button, hit it and click the items it asks for, the items will disappear and the counter in the BOD will go up. Once you're all done return to the smith for your reward. Hint: You can use higher quality goods to fulfill lower quality orders. For example, you could use barbed leather to fill a horned leather BOD. or you could use Dull Copper for iron BODs. It works the same way with exceptional, even if it doesn't ask for exceptional, you can still put them in the BOD.

What is a large BOD?

Large bulk order deeds require a bunch of items to complete. But you can't just make those items and throw them in, you need to have all the small BODs first! Large BOD's are where the collecting and trading of BODs is important. They can take weeks, months, or longer to fill out if you try to get the BODs yourself. But if you have what other people want you might be able to fill it quicker... Once you get one of the small BODs complete, that is needed in the Large BOD, just double-click the large BOD and click 'fill'. Instead of targetting a bunch of items, you target the small BOD. Large BODs are the only ones that give you the best rewards!

So how do I get the good stuff!?

Well here is where most people get confused... The smith/tailor is trying to help you become a better smith/tailor, so he will only give you a BOD that you can complete. So a neophyte smith will only get small easy to fill BODs and in turn, crappy rewards. But a GM smith, who can make anything, will get large BODs and high end small BODs. Most people think that if they can get to 120 blacksmithing/tailoring, they will get better BODs. But that is wrong because at 100 you can already make everything, so the smith/tailor can't give you anything better than what you get at 100. Hint: You won't get a single Large BOD until 70 skill in either tailoring or blacksmithing

Good luck and farewell young smiths!
