Every Player Killer's Guide to Encountering Noobs in Ultima Online

The Trammy Mage

May also be a tamer. Prefers seclusion, and PvM fighting on his own. He is not used to aggressive PvPers and will probably fumble his macros because he will be so shocked you are killing him, or will try to escape by running himself into a corner. Will most likely try to recall out when he sees you, or may try to hit you with whatever he was gonna cast on that ettin before you showed up. If you interrupt his escape, he is a simple opponent. If he attacks, he will probably start by casting flamestrike, which you will of course easily interrupt. If a tamer, he may say "all kill" but likely won't be able to target you and might even target himself. He is especially vulnerable to "machine-gun" magic arrows because this basically foils his game-plan 100% (his game plan consists of recall or flamestrike).

WEAKNESSES: No knowledge on how to sync spells/May not have a recall-escape macro/Doesn't know how to use wands, magic reflect, and isn't sure how Magic Resist works.

Poor combat performance due to massive adrenaline rush when attacked.

LOOT: 7000 gold, 75-200 each Reg, GM made Leather Armor/maybe some store bought.

The Valorite/Verite/Gold/Shadow Plated Trammy Dexxer

Is under the impression that if plate armor is best in most MMO's it must be best in UO...

This fella is a big fantasy fan, and has been drawn to the RPG plate-armored classes his entire gaming career. He just wants to look cool, smash evil monsters and farm a bit of gold to support his aesthetic sensibilities and addon to his 8x10 custom house someone gave him. He probably only has enough gold to buy around 5 special color plate suits, so killing him and taking his suit will likely make him a sad trammy.

WEAKNESSES: just wants to play the game his way, doesn't want to adapt to what is "L33T", his other weakness is he wears plate armor that is pretty. Like a fishing lure, he attracts predators.

LOOT: 5000 gold, & sweet, sweet armor, put it on a vendor and sell it back to him unknowingly, not for the gold, but for the lulz

The Trammy Banksitter

Think "Kevin the Boy"

Will sit at Britain bank, come up to you, ask you questions ("Are you a boy?" i.e. Kevin), tell you there is no demand for your item, and then offer to buy your stuff for 30% of its value, and then will be terribly surprised and offended when you point out he is a bottom feeder. In his words, the perfectly good item you have "Will never sell for that, LMFAO". He puts a lot of effort into convincing you your stuff isn't worth anything, a dead giveaway.

(similar to "The Scammer" in the other guide, however he doesn't pretend to be your friend)

WEAKNESSES: Often goes AFK, you can either drag some out-of-town mobs onto him or figure out another way, plenty of options to kill AFKers.

LOOT: 2 of each reg (if lucky), maybe some random plants someone dropped on the ground

Role Playing Trammies

Often on foot.
(note the vacant expression)

Might be friends in real life, or a few foreigners banding together because they don't speak English.

It's their first week or two playing Ultima Online and they have not yet experienced a truly unsavory encounter with a player killer. Having just killed a lich, they rejoice, "finally my character is good at Ultima". Their healing skill will probably be around 60% and they may just stand there while you kill them or maybe they will run around while not healing themselves.

WEAKNESSES: Spends too much time thinking about their character's story and personality, and not enough time thinking about how to defend against a PK.

LOOT: 840 gold. possibly nice armor like the armor-plated trammy or crap armor like the trammy mage, case-by-case basis.

(these descriptions do not include veteran role-players, respect to them)

House Hiding Trammy

He doesn't farm gold, instead prefers to craft and sell. As soon as he see's you, he goes inside his house, atop his beetle, with the newly fixed "purple potion throwing glitch", this guy becomes "dug in like an Alabama tick" a.k.a hard to kill.

He, like the armor plated trammy, likes to play the game his way and refuses to learn PvP. He may have a few years of UO under his belt and finds the crafting system very satisfying. It is possible that this trammy is rich from selling his various wares.

WEAKNESSES: only vulnerable to very patient PKs who will hide outside his house for long periods of time

LOOT: He will not carry gold on him, the real meat & potatoes is in his giant beetle, kill it & loot it inside your own house as their may be some seriously valuable & very heavy resources inside.

The Complete Idiot

This guy has no idea WTF is going on, all he wants from you is 2000 gold so he can buy some armor at the blacksmith. He will then go to the Britain graveyard, get killed by skeletons, and might decide to go back to online facebook-games after walking around a vacant eastern Britain looking for people to tell him how to fight as a ghost.

He may not understand that he needs to go into combat mode to be seen as a ghost, so he may think his character is dead forever.

Nearly every player is tempted to PK the Complete Idiot, including Role Playing Trammies as seen above

WEAKNESSES: This guy will believe ANYTHING. Experienced griefers often recognize this type of noob and try to trap his ghost in their house (illegal, i do not condone). Before this happens though, he probably won't even know you are killing him.

LOOT: 8 gold. two pieces of storebought ringmail, two storebought longswords, & a pouch with an apple in it.

That is pretty funny.

I kinda recognize myself a bit as the "House hiding Trammy" :p Only difference is that I don't carry a beetle, and I'm actually pretty easy to housekill since my design for houses are always terrible for defense, or simply just terrible, either or :D
