Honest question to staff about updates...

Please do not take this the wrong way because this is not a attack. I Appreciate the work that has been put in so far and the server is becoming more populated as we speak and its easy to see.

But we were told about these dungeon overhauls, duel pit changes and faction changes.
Instead we have received Hybrid Mares, Arcane Recall Scrolls, A "Uo Guild History House", A New Orc Fort, New Moongates? supposed changes to checking health to eliminate auto heals which are apparently still working...

Why are we working on these items and not the core items like the Faction and Dungeon overhaul that will KEEP the players who have come back (Because allot of players are coming back due to the faction overhaul) and bring in new players because of the Dungeon overhaul and keep them and also get people outa WBB.

Like i said please Ryan, Alk, and others DO NOT SEE THIS AS A ATTACK for it is not. Im honestly asking why we are prioritizing items that i dont see helping the shard like the scrolls, mares, ect rather then going balls deep into this faction and dungeon overhaul and getting it implemented even if its piece by piece.

Whose to say they haven't? I imagine an entire dungeon overhaul is a lot more work than just change mobs around. Then you got to do it for every dungeon. Then there is the test center once these changes occur. It's probably a long process, so quit wanting instant gratification.

Those other changes were most likely easy short changes that didn't need a long process. Not hard to come to these conclusions, brosamity sam.

Actually the Hybrid History house took 2days+, The Hybrid mares took allot of time as well, the orc fort? Who knows? Was that change even needed? Maybe it was just a test run for the new dungeons?

But they have already physically made the new bases, i know they are working on fixing Magnicia so it a town with not as much lag and easier to faction in but the bases are there maybe we just haven't been informed of all the changes and there are more to come then we know about and that's why the change is taking longer.

I just believe instead of popping out a little change here and a little one there to focus on the main 2 changes that will help populated the shard which is Factions and Dungeons.

Now i could be completely wrong, and if i am that's perfectly fine with me i was just looking for some kinda answer from hopefully a staff and not Simon Cowell, no offense, your post is noted but is irrelevant because you are uninformed and truly only a staff can answer my question. This isn't a debate or a flame thread or a attack thread. Its just a honest thread to try to obtain some more information about the Faction and Dungeon changes.

Simon is completely right in what he said. The Orc fort didn't take 2 days to make. It took awhile. It had to built up from scratch and then deco put in and figure out a good spawn rate. Then there is Magincia, they had to remove all the OSI stuff and redo the buildings and then deco it out. Once again a long process. Dungeons are going to take awhile to get it right. Sometimes the players don't realize how spoiled they are with the new staff ;) Remember when changes never came for years?

Changes will come, that I can guarantee!

Think of Rayn as the CEO, he's the public face. His job is to play, and make magical unicorns, new colored shrounds and do mass handouts. Im sure the programmers are hard at work, in some dungeon, somewhere on dial up.

Every change takes time and skill, however some are more complex than others. Sure a lot of thought went into those new structures. But it's a big difference from actually coding or taking on an entire dungeon overhaul. It's kind of like a well built house. Just because the carpenter can get finished first, doesn't mean he should wait for the electrical engineer to finish his dangerous job.

With that said, it's great you shared your concerns. I'm sure other people want to make sure pvp changes are still a priority.

He wasn't around when making stack able seeds, and moving a guard line around was all you got for that month.

There is only one person actually coding, hybrid mare and re-decoing the map are all things that would logically come first.

Is you wanted new mobs, not just skinned over balrons in a new dungeon.. (No idea if these is even on table) it would take a solid month never leaving your chair.

I think we must take into consideration that everyone on staff has real life jobs, responsibilities and obligations. In time, given some patience and support from the players, these changes will be made and implemented. May I suggest that when announcements are made(regarding testing) that more players pop onto the test center? This way you can give your input on some potential changes while at the same time gaining knowledge of "things to come". On the test center we currently have some newly scripted mobs that could potentially be implemented(in dungeons). As well as, new faction bases, runic kit testing, etc. Your input is important!

The "custom" dungeons and monsters you've probably seen on UOF and other servers aren't custom at all. They're just copy and pasted from updated versions of UO. To implement them in a similar fashion would take less than a day.

I don't think the OP is mad about how long the changes take to implement. I think he is not happy about the "priority" of what's being changed and implemented first.

I don't know if you realise mate......its a free shard and people who run this shard have lives outside of uo....... chill da fuck out and stop writing essays on your dribble.

I get whats you are say. Why make changes that really dont matter. Hybrid history place... Cool , but is it really needed?
He asking why wont they make it so the same boring dungeons are always changing, New monsters (which is starting to be done) , Spawns moved around. Keep people running around down there instead of always having the exact rune to something. Instead have them try to run around and find it. Remember when the mares spawns were changed? Days of pvp.

I just honestly don't understand these kinds of threads... maybe it's because I'm so deep in what we're working on and doing that I'm oblivious but here's the deal:

Hybrid needed a serious facelift... some items are low hanging fruit and "fun things" that we can do... Hybrid Mares, Hybrid House etc... some things are more complex ala the new woods for crafting and runic tools for runic staves and bows.... where other things are massively time consuming and require multitudes of testing to do right, IE: respawning dungeons, new mobs, overhaul of factions and a complete revamp of the dueling system to move to a real ranked and unranked dueling system with a full web integration.... and don't get me started on our out of date donation system that hasn't seen an update in 5 years.

So right now you get a mix, Hybrid Mare, Hybrid House, New Woods etc... New faction bases are built and tested etc... but we can't make every change at once and we surely wont make them every weekend. I think what people forget is that Hybrid is like the USS UOG Hybrid aircraft carrier, you don't turn it on a dime but we're pushing her as hard as she can go right now....

If it's not enough I'm sorry but what you get is what we can do quick, what is fun for a break etc... we are doing a lot of work and I am actually helping Suzy with code as time permits. I've enlisted the help of another developer to get things done and Alkiser to help oversee some of the design and testing efforts we're pushing through.

I recognize a lot of this stuff seems trivial to you but I can assure you that none of what we're doing is trivial... we're not doing any of these 'cut and paste mobs' we're spending the appropriate amount of time creating mobs and testing etc... (as you can see with the Kobolds on test center). I appreciate your interest in what we're doing but I think it's hard for anyone to take this as anything but an attack on our abilities to deliver... one thing which we've not failed on. We are actively engaged with the players but we're doing this right, not doing it fast and loose.
